Ok so I am very mechanically inclined but I don't know the cummins(24v) or its "characteristics"..

I'll start with the engine temps. NBow I know it was blooody hot this weekend but I would not have thought the motor would have gotten as hot as it did... On flat ground towing the temp guage stays around 210. and when pulling passes it would get to what looks like 225ish. Is this normal? I really think its running hotr but not positive.

Now at the dealership they installed some new lift pump--anybody know about any factory upgrades for the lift pump?

this sounds about right when towing, you should get a fass fuel system and a fuel pressure guage. The main problems with the 24v is the little pump that pulls the fuel from the tank burns out then it makes your main pump work alot harder and burns that out too. A pirometer is nice to have and If you have a automatic I would get a temp gauge for the tranny:D

Not really worried about upgrades right at the moment. I just wanna make sure everything else is sound and doing good.

Also anybody who has an auto. when you are kinda chugging with the TC in lockup around 50ish---if you lightly press the accel pedal is it normal to not do anything? I assume its because the turbo isn't spooling up at all?

And yes sarg I have been hearing good things about the edge with attitude...

Hot days and high altitudes you will see increase in engine temp.. pretty typical(you should try goin to utah in 115 at 6 to 7000 foot passes). Without mods you will still pull at least 1250 towin up a pass. you could cool it down a bit by getting rid of some of the EGT's with larger exhaust and cold air intake.. if you do not make as much heat and can get it out faster and cooler coming in your motor the motor temp should stay cooler. We blazed up the passes movin at a pretty good clip and I could get my motor temp round the 225 range. but I am running the motor hard and pushing a fair amount of fuel through it beyond stock. If I where to slow down to a stock dodge speed I would notice alot less temp issue running my EGT's at the 1000 deg which is what you would most likely be able to do with exhaust and cold air. as for pusher pump.... yeah... I think a couple different options available.

the first thing you should do is get a fuel pressure gayge on the small pump, its not an upgrade its a must have. second you should also upgrade to sheep skin seat covers:flipoff:

tHANKS for the input jason. So it sounds like the engine temp is pretty normal then and making the engine "more" efficiant I assume will bring the engine temps down too....

Yes.... A torquelock for the tranny would help too. forces the rig into lockup in OD so you do not get slippage! :)

looks like crash needs to do some readin up and see just whats outy there :D

(keep this up and you might actually get some post counts there :kissmyass: )

If they put a new lift pump in & upgraded it they probably put the new style pump in that goes in the tank. Thats what they did with mine. It puts out more volume & less pressure. Thats what the new trucks have in them, so my presure gauge no longer work's.

When we went to Naches a couple year's ago, my temp got pretty hot also going up the gravel road. Did a couple things, 4" exhaust & tranny lock haven't had a problem since.

I haven't had the chance to over the rig with a fine tooth comb but you might be right--so if thats the case I suspect thats a good thing?

So what exactly have you done to your tranny jake?

Edge w/ attitude has a fuel pressure gauge built it w/ alarms Mr. Dodge master :flipoff:

I put a bigger Mag-hytec tranny pan on, A BD pressureloc on, This helps alot keeps the tranny from slipping 0-35. I guess they slip straight from the factory up 35 mph. Then when I got the Pacbrake you have to put on the BD Torgloc so the lock-up cluth of the torque converter to stay engaged when the exhaust brake is activated. I also got the three pilar gauge pod EGT,Tranny temp & boost. The fuel gauge is just a little led light that goes on if below 5 psi. I have that but it nolonger works because of the new pump in the tank. When Peter put it on my Pump was already toast so he put a pump on for me at the same time.

motor heat

check your rad between the intercooler and the front of the rad, they plug up with dirt and dust causing no airflow, pulled three of them this week all three were pugged, sent them to the rad shop had them cleaned, good as new no heat issues, also do you heard your clutch fan kick on, might be another issue
