I`ve never done this and looking for some ideas on how to do this ! i need more room for my tire`s and for My suspension to be able to work at it`s full potential.:corn:

dove'n the rear will not gain you anything but open tire space. in the end you will be cutting more out of your fender for clearence then you would if you just trimmed your fenders the way the are now.

pics of yer rig would be nice. leaf sprung or linked?

84 4runner bobb`d,leaf lift,37`s stuffing then into the sheet metal

sounds about like my rig 3in lift 37's wide tires. low lift... i hacked so little out it almost looks stock. how wide are your tires/wheels and what is your offset? doving the rear will not gain you anything that you are looking for. just trim your fenders

couple pics of my runner don't have any current with the 37's but you can get a good idea of what im doing with mine and how it sits

note these tires are 37x13.5x17 wheels are 9x17 4.25 BS

i am now running 17x10 4in BS wheels and still no rubbing

i had to notch my fire wall all the way to the body mount. if i hit it hard enough it will rub very slightly on the smooth surface which is not an issue

Doving the rear will gain you a touch of clearance but you'll still be cutting the fawk out of the fenderwells if you need more. Might as well just bight the bullet and tub the rear and leave it wide.

i call bs. sorry but doning the rear will not gain you anything.

if you think about it like this...

the outer most edge of the fender is the lowest point.. okay so stock it is outside or near the outside of the tires. as the tire travels up it twist in a way. the outer most edge of the tires is the highest point.

okay now you dove the body. moving the lowest point of the body(outermost point of the fender well in. now it is in the center of the tire and when the tire is pushed up it now hits directly on the lowest point

sure if you want to spend the cash tube it and **** the body. but if you want to keep the shell and the tub just cut your fenders. as full stuff my 37's slightly rub the frame. with a good inch of clearence everywhere else

You just proved my point to be correct. The outside edge of the tire is the highest point and when the body hits it the tire stops traveling. Move the body in away from the highest point and let the tire stuff up higher to contact the fender with the middle.

How do I know this? I've done it. And to make my tires fit my bed full width I have less than 3" of bedside left above the tire for clearance where before I had about 6" above the tires with a dove'd bed. :;

i see your point. but to dove a runner that much:eeek: like i said you can see my rig in the pics below and i have zero issues with rubbing the body i rub slightly on the frame at full stuff why go through the hassle just for tire clearence.

if nothing else i would dove it because of the look/squeeze factor on tight trails.

also we are talking about 37's not 42's or 44's huge difference:awesomework:

Sort of.. If you're building a rig LOW on anything over a 35 you have to cut out a lot of sheetmetal. Yes I had to cut out a **** load more because of my tires but the facts don't change because of the tires. Low rigs with a lot of uptravel need clearance. :D

ah leave springs dont have a ton of up travel when they are set up right.. as in they should never negatively arc. and tires that size require tons of excessive cutting compared to 35's or 37's my rig doesn't sit as low as i would like it to.. it will soon sit lower.. at the moment it has 3in of lift and two in longer shackles. compared to most comparable rigs to mine it sits low

Arched springs mounted up high allow for lots of uptravel and no negative leaves...

I have 6" of up in the back and currently about 2 in the front limited to keep them flat but I have RE 1 1/2" reversed eye YJ springs to put in there and I'll change the bumpstop mounts for about 5" of uptravel.

point takin.

but to do that would take so much more work/time

**** it back half it and leave it:redneck:

it's only metal

Truck looks sexy trashy. that's what my little black first gen wants to be when it grows up, minus the flames.

Minus the flames?? Shiat that's the best part! The rest is must by best impersonation of NON booty fab this go around. :redneck:

Yea scallops are sick on some rigs. I just finished a second gen sas/cab swap a month ago and peanut painted it.... Crappy pic but it came out sweet. :D

scallops definitely fit the square body a lot better than a round body though. I dunno what I'm gonna do for a scheme on mine. I might dove the rear like ya did though. Just gotta figure out how to make it street legal still.
