dual cases vs 4.7 gear

i agree, the extra length in the front would be nice. but, ive never had an issue with the front shaft being TOO short. just too little travel...

think of it this way, a longer shaft with the same amount of lift is going to be a less angle and more paralel to the springs and wont need as much slip yoke travel.:awesomework:

Exactly why I'm waiting to have a d-line made until after i get duals:awesomework:

how much length do u gain with a dual case? 6"?
thats be like what a 1/4" maybe even a 1/2" less travel?

my frontend is(was) forward almost 3" already, i still pulled the front shaft apart..more times than i care to admit:mad:
i moved it back when i did the crossover, since the draglink, was hitting the tierod. its still forward about 1.5"

not, that i wouldnt take that extra 1/2" or so of travel. might keep me from crawling under the truck in the snow, to put the DL back in:rolleyes:

Oh and a after thought on the single 4.7 subject. Last year (only had the 4.7) got into a situation in the snow on the back side of Evans were I needed to keep the wheel speed up to get out of a bad spot. Had to keep it moving so in 3rd with the 22re screaming for 1/4 mile. Developed a rod knock afterwards, limped it till this summer and put new engine in. If I'd of had more gear options I wouldn't've had to stay so high in the RPM's. Or if I'd of known the area better I could've kept going in the direction that I thought I shouldn't have and not had to wond out RPMs to get up the other direction. Hope this makes sense, cuzz it was crystal clear in my head.

I got dual cases with 2.28 in each with the twin stick and love them...until I have to wheel behind Muddpigg when he drops his stuff into compound low with those 4.7's and my brakes start to smoke :redneck:

:haha: :haha: I'm jonesen to hit the mountain. It's been too long, retarded work.

I've been running a single 4.7 case for a while now with 4.88 diff gears and maybe wouldve went duels without the added cost of converting from v6 chain to 4cyl gear drive. I love my setup and can generate plenty of wheelspeed with the trans. gears. the only draw back so far is generating wheel speed in reverse, but who needs reverse anyway.
