I revived this post and revised plans. Thinking of trying a ecotec 2.2 or 2.4 in my a buggy .I have a th350 with toyota t-case saw the post on pirate looks like a pain in the ass! any one know a easy way and a connection ecotec and comp and harness at a good price? just checking to see what you all think? looking at a lighter package and more horse power!! I Like the way they sound when turned up also a supercharged and turbo version to choose from there are a million of these out there!! What do you think? Thanks! Still thinking.

This idea just sounds like a pain in the ass, good luck to you. I'm sure it can be done with enough motivation tho.

Re: ecotec to a toyota or 700r4

Pineygroveoffroad is runnin Ecotec in his Yota buggy.....guy that's building my buggy was the one who set it up. :dblthumb: He really likes it! :****:

It's hard to justify spending the time amd money on that setup when you can use a 2.7 toy engine instead. I would lke to see it done, and an ecotech can make some power, but is it really worth it? :dunno:

Sniperperformance on zukikrawlers is doing a setup in a samurai with same set up a bunch of good wright up and tech.. :****:

Re: ecotec to a toyota or 700r4

ecotech are all aluminum light and most posts say easy 300 hp 2.7 yoda wont do that easy, I am just looking for most power to weight in a small package!

Re: ecotec to a toyota or 700r4

that's what my son in law wants us to do with the buggy we going to build one day soon I hope. supercharged
ecotech, like you say 300 horse

Re: ecotec to a toyota or 700r4

I would like to see this done, those are bad ass little motors. If you could get 300-400 horse out of it and mount it to a glide and atlas you would have a tiny little package, it would be very easy to mount around.

That would be the way to go with this! Find a wrecked saturn redline ion and get the GM performance pully, ecm, injector package. I actually did this not long ago on a car and it woke the fawk up!

Wait, did my inner ricer just come out :ban: :gtfo:

Re: ecotec to a toyota or 700r4

It would still be American made so no rice needed.

Re: ecotec to a toyota or 700r4

Dont the cobalt ss have a supercharger?

Re: ecotec to a toyota or 700r4

I've got a rear engine with a 2.4 and it works great.

Re: ecotec to a toyota or 700r4

I've got toyota 4spd and 5spd stuff or a th350 to toyota 4cyl t-case looking to make one of these work.. any body know of anything? yes some ecotecs are turbo and some are supcharged

Re: ecotec to a toyota or 700r4

from what I have found the adapter plate to the trans is over 800 bucks
1" thick aluminum plate, I will send you the link when I get to work tomorrow.

Re: ecotec to a toyota or 700r4

I gots the 2.2 plain jane ecotech in the ole Saturn white beast! 150k miles and still purs like a kitten. 137 hp rated from factory :driving:

Re: ecotec to a toyota or 700r4

I'd look into the bellhousing from the Sky/Solstice factory auto (5L40E) and see if it will bolt up to a 4L60E, which of course has lots of options/adapters available.

OR

Look into the Colorado/Canyon 2.8/2.9L 4cyl. Still all aluminum and make 175-185 hp, and over 200hp easy with a simple tune,

also,

They come with the Aisin MA5 (same basic trans as AX15/R150) or a regular ol 4L60E

the "best" to find would be a 2wd with 4cyl auto, then you could easily get an adapter to whatever tcase you want, and put the speed sensor in the adapter (so you are reading off the tailshaft instead of the rear tcase output and getting a skewed signal from low range gearing). Or convert the 4L60 to a full manual valve body
