Is there a lot of tuning nessary to get the power? Do you still have a stalling issue?

No, 3-4 pulls on the dyno. Much better for the money than a mail order tune. Mine still stalls, I have not installed my PTC converter yet

My Jeep (which is not big booty judy) has a stock 5.3. Im also running pitbull rockers not TSL's. I just sold that Jeep though and bought a buggy called big booty judy that has a 5.3 with z06 cam and springs. Doing the z06 cam and springs is just cheap horsepower. You can pick up cam and springs under 200 bucks and I cant tell you exactly how much power you gain but its a pretty good gain, Lots of guys doing it on trucks. 1TONZR2 did this cam on his 5.3 as well. Get on ls1tech.com for some real good combo's of parts. 5.3 heads on ls1's, l96 heads on 6.0's , zo6 cam swaps etc...

actually he put that cam in his 5.3 after I did.....we talked about it at RBD a few years ago when they made the trip down to AL. :flipoff1: :****: with the LS6 cam, you have to make sure you get the right one...here is a list of cams and specs
Mine is the 02+ LS6 cam. I am pleased with the power that it makes, but I think I could be getting more out of it since I also had the heads milled for more compression and the tune I am using is slightly tweaked mail order tune. I would like to do some dyno tuning this spring....

Matt why is your buggy still stalling? When will you be installing your TC? I am waiting to see if that will help take care of some of your issues that you are having. Good luck!! Let us know how it turns out.

what is the reason for not wanting a al block?

For the hits a buggy takes, its not all that uncommon to have the motor mount bolts strip out of the block on an aluminum block. You can mitigate it with a mid-plate or additional head mounts.

What Wyatt said and the iron block is a little more foregiving for what we do. I trust the truck motors a lot more for the application
