How many dollars on top of a southern style trail does it take to get the big names out to an event? I've seen the $25k purse, but thats out of my budget. Realistically, what would it take to get Mr :tc , Bobby Tanner, Plowboy, etc to a fastest to the top hill climb? Stony Lonesome being the venue, halfway between Huntsville and Birmningham just off of I65.

Re: How many Doll Hairs?

I've seen them at $5000 and under events and that was a split purse. Not sure if it takes some "show up" money though....
Lot of people say it does because they bring the "gate",but that's hearsay so not sure.
Got a few heavy hitters on here...maybe they will weigh in.

Re: How many Doll Hairs?

Split as in 3, 2, 1? The one being part of the gate? or how would it go?

I had an offer for a chassis at the top of a bounty type hill offer as well at one point as well. I do have some folks that would be willing to sponsor some parts, services, etc. I just need to get an idea together first and then I can start working towards a goal.

The park has some challenging hills, some good spots to spectate from and parking for plenty. Facilities are top notch too.

Re: How many Doll Hairs?

PM me a number or I can PM you mine. I just want to change the perception of the park. It has come a long way in a short period of time. A couple big named guys will get more people than I could ever imagine by them just being here. I am willing to put up my own money to show how the park has changed....well, through my store of course. Gots to write off for advertising.

It isn't a far drive, the hills are good, parking and facilities are good. We just need a crowd to come and see it to help put the park on the map. I have no affiliation with the park except that I volunteer and wheel here. I get no money, special privileges or kickbacks of any kind. I do get to enjoy a short drive to get there and it would be nice to see more buggies and crawlers visit my home park.

Re: How many Doll Hairs?

The Crawl Rally at Windrock back in May was a $2500 payout and most of the big boys were there...Tanner,Keith,Key,the Bacons,Cameron,Kean. Ain't tryin' to leave anyone out but ya get the idea.

Re: How many Doll Hairs?

Kel,

how much wheelin is truly there? kinda off topic, but we are always looking for new parks to hit and it shows about 10 hours for me and some friends (seems most good wheelin is 8-12 hours away for us)

might be a great chance to watch the big boys play, meet some new people and do some wheelin somewhere new 8)

thanks

Re: How many Doll Hairs?

You can wheel/crawl for about two days if you hit everything there is to offer that isn't bouncer/racer only. During rain, three days to get it all done. That is if you don't break, have someone to show you the trails or can read an updated map, or are not KushKrawlin/JohnG GPS retarded. The park has a good main trail system, but some of the best trails, you kinda have to know where they are, find where you are told or follow someone to them. Not to sound like it is hard to navigate, but some of the trails just are two turns off the main trail and don't look like much to begin with.

As for Big Boy hills, there are enough to keep a bouncer busy for a day. Two days and they would probably get bored. But thats a full day of hill to hill, not just twenty of them following each other and taking three hours for all of them to hit one hill.

I know the park pretty well, helped cut a good bit of the new trails, drive a built crawler on tons with 42's and I can barely drive half of the park in half a day. That being said, I have to skip about 15 trails now, 22 if its been raining. I don't have the horsepower nor the desire for some of them.

Re: How many Doll Hairs?

And it U get a chance check out Arab highschool. It's a hour part the park comin from Ga. Or hell just listen to the dam GPS!! Wasnt my fault ! John G said someone else, B Bone did the same Thing. Use a paper map it coming from the east. No GPS. I repeat no GPS. Man that was so messed up. Haha.
About the park Tho.. They need tires and rain. There's miles and miles of riding.. And about 3 million more trails that they have room to cut if they want. I was wantin to cut a trail and name it. Don't know why, I just do. And I still plan on it!!

Re: How many Doll Hairs?

I really like HPO as well. I'm not a racer and was a little disappointed to see some of the hills I have seen raced taped off during my last visit. I had been up some of those hills in the past, I didn't feel they were dangerous. I mean, they would be if you were trying to race. But many of them can be crawled or just strategically throttled and fun be had. That new bounty hill / ledge / rock you have will be something to see. I'm surprised we don't see more events there as it is but I admit that I haven't seen much there that is as death-defying as some of the crazy **** I'm seeing these days. Maybe I've just missed it.

Oh, and I will be renting one of the cabins every time I go from now on. They were very convenient and nice. That cold a/c was almost a religious experience after long hot days.

I will personally cut you a hill....come help if you want. We could name it #Kush or maybe.....smoke signals.......smoke theres fire.......I'm late......Hsve you seen my crawler........Nice guys finish last.......Sticky Icky

I think 5k could be swung pretty easy. If it was a good weekend, I would probably pay for the top racers to have a cabin a piece or even a trailer. Anyone interested please feel free to call me @25661516zeroeight

Re: How many Doll Hairs?

That's some motivation. I hope to come up and ride sometime soon. I've heard good things.

Re: How many Doll Hairs?

I was there two years ago, last park with my jeep before sacrificing it for a buggy. I liked it then, I was one of the big boys that day. Had a bunch of locals following me around. I can defiantly see how having a audience can make you do stupid things.
I was denied a couple of big hills and made a couple. At that time that park was perfect for me. Can't wait to see the improvements.

I think I probably saw you because you guys were cutting new trails with a backhoe. (If I remeber right)

Only thing I would suggest, if it hasn't been done, is a propane fill station.

Re: How many Doll Hairs?

Calling Tyler on the Propane Fill Station. County Run Park, I am sure there are some extra hoops to jump through. That and a car wash.....calling TC. If I had an extra 20-30K sitting around, it would be a money making venture for certain. Instead, I bought solar panels. Go figure. Some of us got brains, some of us got balls. I don't think I got much of either.

Hey U know me. I'm pretty down to earth. But does it really take throwing money at some of the "big boys" to get them out? I mean does a few thousand dollars, which they apparently wipe their ass's with every Mornin, really gonna get them down? Hell I guess thaTs why I don't have ****. Cause if it was me, and I was Fort Knox, that tried to destroy 100K dollars every weekend while a lot of us just wish we could be riding somewhere, I would be down just to help. Hell I feel like they are on the same level as some of the rappers. Them fukers get paid to do a wAlk through. In other words, a club pays the rapper, say 40K just to walk though. Make an appearance. Seems to work. But my goodness. If Ya ask me, I'm sure noone would, but they should be happy to come to a new place. Think of the :tc they could pick up ! I think you should advertise first that they Are coming then let them know that there's a **** ton of folks expecting them. Hahahah

Have you just talk to any of them to see they'd come to a event? I don't really know any of the big boys personally(went to school with jake "riot buggy) but what I've seen at charity events they are pretty good dude. I'd say get a idea of a date you want to do something and talk to a couple of them. Don't hurt to ask.

Re: How many Doll Hairs?

I would love to see STL now. I was there in 2009 for a Jeep Jamboree and the park was pretty new. Not many trails and hardly any exposed rock. They needed some wear on them to get the dirt off and it looked like it had potential.

We ran "Extreme" marked trails and it was little challenge at all besides deep mud in several spots.
