Final Reiter trail specs

PURPLE Special use trails are designed for a wheelbase of 86" or less, narrow "jeep type"
vehicles; trails would be "tight and twisty" as its primary challenge. Only vehicles less
than or equal to 86" wheelbase will be allowed on purple trails.

So, pretty much only CJ5, flatties, and sammis need only apply.
 
Puple has a specific user group and those trails are the only one with a restriction

Wasn't arguing it. Just hadn't seen a max wheel base of 86" spec'd out anywhere before, save for one other location.

The only thing I would argue in that report is the use of multiple colors to designate different lines for 4WD use.

4WD trails in DNR land are purple. Yellow is ATV or single track, can't recall which now.

If it's only for design and planning purposes that's one thing. If they become the names and markings of the trails, that could become confusing to people.

The plan looks awesome.....except for the "gifted" :looser: purple sections......

really got in to detail...is that required or just someone having fun on autocad ......

I was thinking for gate keepers beginning and end of trail on the sections that require x amount of clearance...install metal or concrete pilings that are at the required height, so that way u hit well too bad......there is no winching over something like that.... and make it near impossible to make a bypass (huge stumps rocks etc)......

My rig is only an 80 inch wheelbase, and I don't like the restrictions to keep out bigger rigs. I wheel mostly with bigger rigs. If you can get thru, then more power to you, go for it. It pisses me off to hear other wheelers cry that the short wheel base guys are ****ing us, so we should in turn **** them out of some trails. Your concrete piling idea is a crybaby bullshit idea that is engineered to keep certain people out, it isn't a real world style gatekeeper. I am all for bigger rigs getting into whatever they can, and would fight for your right to do it, but you are basically trying to make to wrongs into a right.:flipoff:

This is one of the guys I wheel with, and he squeezes thru my tight trails, (sometimes it is a little work), and I always find a way to make it up his type trails, (sometimes a little work)

We can both make it one each others style trails, it is just more challenging, and that is what I thought we all enjoyed.

My post was not aimed at wheelers like yourself that enjoy the REAL facts about wheeling..... :cool:

My post was more aimed at the cry babies that cry their trails are getting too hard and they can no longer make it because of people like myself that have bigger rigs and so in return they get our trails that are meant for all of us to use shut down to only people that fit in this made up criteria..... :stirpot:

Just pisses me off that they think they are some how more special and deserve it more then the next guy ???? :Stoned:

This is exactly why there needs to be trails specifically for SWB rigs. These guys aren't crying because you make their trails too hard, you make them too easy....That wide rig in the picture has no business on a narrow trail where he doesn't fit.
Why should every trail be punched out wide enough to roll a double wide trailer?:rolleyes:
 
Ty you are the exception and wheelers like you. We have talked about this already. As far as gate keepers on harder trails, that is in the plans. The way I look at it. If you can make the first 40 ft of the trail you are good

As far as the purple trails, Thank the powers to be in the 4x4 community that had enough pull to get them. As far as anyone that finds problems with the trail design manual, you had your chance to get involved and put your input in.
I think the manual has the ability to recreate 99% of the trails obstacles that were at Reiter. For the different types of tails that are designed for different types of rigs. I can only think of 1 trail that falls out of specs of the manual.

I'm with Binder, and I too have a SWB, but never ONCE bitched about what larger rigs have done to a trail. There's nothing wrong with a dedicated SWB trail here and there....

I kinda think it looks like a good plan. Its only a small amount that is for 86 and under and a lot of the rigs on those trails will not be on the big rig trails do to their tires being too small to really do anything with out pulling cable. I am only 83"s after my YJ swap and I KNOW there are trails that my dads TJ on 37's and rockjocks will not be able to fallow.
