fuel additives

15 years ago they tried it in over the road trucks.. It killed the pumps. They did plenty of testing to see if it would harm the pumps/engine and made sure it was right to go on the market. Only downfall is the VP44 is already tempermental so it doesn't take much to throw it off..
 
As I recall the change from leaded to unleaded DID make a difference in the valve guides in the heads??

I don't know squat about new or old diesel fuel, I just want my junk to last a while.

x2! The VP was temper mental before the switch, because of cavitation and lack of lubrication... You could talk to any diesel mechanic and they'll agree with this... Because unlike a P7100, the VP-44 has no oil in it, and is completely lubricated by diesel fuel... The P7100 has close to a quart of oil in it...
