I have been running Stanadyne Performance since day #1 140k. Filter comes out thru the top and gets changed every other oil change. I usually soak the filter in CLEAN diesel before installing it, seems to help with the refire.

thanks guys, got it changed out tonight. wow was that filter dirty. Water in fuel light went off and now its more responsive also. I was also able to get to it from the top but i will try the soaking the filter cause it took about 150 pumps or so to get it primed back up
