fuel filters

does a fuel filter have anything to do with bad gas milage? i have a 90 toyota pickup 3.0 but just in genaral

In the most general sense, no.

I don't know of a single person that has ever been satisfied with the power or fuel mileage of the 3.slow

It could, best to just replace it on a regular basis like every 3rd oil change. Especially for some vehicles that use simple inexpensive in-line filters.

I believe the factory recommendation is 120k miles. My truck is still on it's original filter well past 200k. That damned thing outlasted the original motor.

Ding! Now ya do. gotten 20-22mpg consistently over the last 100,000miles. Goes 280-300 on 14 gallons every tank. It's a '90 3.0 in a runner.


As for the fuel filter. You would notice running problems long before fuel mileage affects of any kind.

I know a guy who didn't change his oil for 120k miles either...he just kept adding more, but that doesn't make it right.

The factory recommendations are based on what? Definately not getting a bad tank of gas sucked off the bottom of a near empty tank

No, that's just plain stupid. I haven't changed the filter because it's not plugged. Why waste time and effort, especially with where it is on a 22RE, to fix something that's not broken. :flipoff:
