i was wondering how full size axles on a cj5/7 would do in evans creek, naches, reiter pit, walker valley, and all the other trails in washington.

Meh, depends on your wheeling. Are you a trail runner or do you like to challenge yourself.

I've seen some folks with full width axles SPANK obstacles that us narrow folks have to really try.

Anywho, for trail running, narrow. For really pusing your rig, wider. Just be prepared to take flack from folks.

When I did my 60s I did a lot of researched and asked the same question you did. I was told 82" outside of tire to outside of tire was the largest that you'd want to go and that was still too wide for some trails. I ended up at about 81. At both Evan's Creek and Elbe Hills this is about as wide as you want to be. Any wider and you'll be climbing trees and such to fit through some tight spots.

ya im only 16 and i aint trying to tack slack from anyone im just trying to have fun. i aint that good of a wheeler anyway. i just like building and fabbing stuff. also how are the toyo mt's everyone ive talked to says they suck.

IMHO, being 16. Wheel what you got and figure it out from there.

Joining a wheeling club or hanging out with a group of expiereneced wheelers can take you a long way. Even if you decide it isn't for you, you can learn some things and move on.

My rig is at 91" wide, even though I don't wheel around here any more (because of the mud and shitty weather) I think it would do fine, aside from a little bark here and there. :redneck:

i dont have anything to wheel at the moment. my parents wont let me wheel my daily driver plus its been in the family since new and they dont want it smashed.i have been reaserching and looking at everything, i was really looking at cherokee's and then yota's but i dont know

A 1985 Toyota pickup/4runner with a 22RE motor is a great first wheeler.:awesomework:

My first wheeler was a 1962 Willys Wagon that I swapped in a 8-lug Dana 44 front, Dana 60 rear out of a Jeep J-20 pickup- not quite full width. It had 35" Boggers and an AMC 290 v-8. I did all the work when I was 17-18. Expect to spend alot of time and money when you start to modify 4x4 vehicles.

Go full width if you want. Walking tires through the tree's is way more of a challenge than driving through them. Alot of people will give you crap over the width but o well. Its your choice to do what you want. I know a guy running 2.5's and he says it feels like everyone hates him when he gets on the trail. I think they just hate that his bad ass buggy isnt theirs . This is a political wheeling state get used to it.

Don't listen to this stupidity.

I really hope you were just trying to get a rise out of people. If not, then your attitude IS a perfect example of the root of our problems as a community.

You are one very ignorant sob

x3 on the above. Its stupidity like this that gives us many of the problems that we have to keep our trails open:booo:

See political wheeling . Rules , laws . This state is logging the hell out of and raping the landscape but yet they have almost everyone on this forum respecting set laws that they have to go by so that they don't tear up the very same stretch of earth . I've said it once and i'll say it again " washington turns rednecks into hippies" . What is ignorant about him wheeling a full size if he wants? Hell what is ignorant about being able to state my opinion in an open forum. Why even have a forum if i cant say what i think about it. The only ignorance here is the amount of closed minded "trail hippies" on this forum. And seeing how i'm saying what you don't want to hear i assume ill be banded from this forum. Right?

banded from this forum. Right?

Just showing MORE of your intelligence. It's Banned you idiot.

The point we are trying to make is that if you don't care to respect the rules of the people who own the land that we wheel on, you shouldn't be wheeling PERIOD! You are the person who should have their vehicle confisicated because you are harmful to the sport. You are the poster boy for the environmental movement. You need to go away and never touch a 4x4 again. You are bad for everything that responsibile people are trying to do for this sport, which is protect the few trails that we have and maintain this sport for our kids and grandkids. You don't belong in this sport.

I think we all called this one right on the nose. You are the cause of the problems we face today. Please, do us all a favor, don't just stay off this website, stay off the trails.
