No offence to you in particular, but I wish people would get a friggin' clue before they post crap like this. It isn't true AND it might give people the wrong idea.

The WEST side of the NACHES TRAIL is closed during those dates. Manastash Ridge (the Naches area proper, where we will be wheelin') is closed from December 1 to April 1 because of snowmobile grooming. Our run is from Nov. 24-26 and, therefore, is on OPEN roads and trails. In fact, there will be entire families of law abiding citizens on the FS roads chopping down their poor, unsuspecting Christmas trees and slinging them on top of their fully street legal Suburbans and Tahoes in the very same area. They will have picnic lunches and campfires and marshmallows. I'm sure that some of them are even RELATED to the rangers and LEOs up there. Heck, we've done this run for ?? years (many) and have almost always welcomed at least one LEO into our camp and shot the shiat with him. They are usually even kind enough to give us updates on all of our volunteer projects and trail conditions and they typically ask us to keep an eye out for people in trouble.

So, to recap, the part of the area that is in YAKIMA COUNTY and the NACHES RANGER DISTRICT of the WENATCHEE NATIONAL FOREST is OPEN until DECEMBER 1.

Either that or there is no more wheelin' at Funny Rocks on the 4th of friggin' JULY.

Sorry about that I was just stating what I read on these sign's that are posted all along the trail from the east end all the way to the west end of trail. this sign was posted on the east side of the trail just before the steep climb. This picture was taken in july 2004.

That's cool, and I may be wrong but I assumed that this applied to the all of the trail's classified as trail's in the area ("Raven's Roost") don't get me wrong I'm sure you guy's know better than me but my group recived a warning in 2004 for wheeling on the Naches trail on July 4th in fact that's the only reason I took the pic. of the sign's. The forest ranger was cool about it, and was clear that the logging road's were ok but he made it sound like all other area's were off limit's to "wheeled vehicle's" I did'nt mean to **** in your corn flake's or anything just a head's up in case you did'nt know.

I've been wrenching like a mad man. . .plumbed the ARB, put on new rear shackles, moved the steering box 1.25" forward and swapped it for a waggy unit, put in a new gas tank and routed a new breather. . .still have some work on the tow rig (trailer wiring stuff) and I have to move my tie rod to the rear holes on the knuckles, but that's easier than your mom. Worsed case is that I can run it just like it is. . .but better is better.

well, Sco44 and i went to the rocks on sunday, we ran 307(tripod flats) from manashtash road. 2'-3' of snow in the medows, 5' drifts on the ridges. the snow packs pretty good and turns to an icy glaze real quick. chains are your friend (especialy on side hills).
lockers front and rear will be needed.

this nextweekend should be awsome.

Top ten things I learned at this year's FYBR:

10.a stuck rig can be a good anchor point for winching myself out
9.some snow banks are drive thru while others only take deposits
8.Sam needs a screwdriver to put gas in his yota
7.Old Green can redesign his steering system 30 minutes before the trail ride and not die
6.Old Green doesnt need a clutch to wheel
5.elk are not afraid of my jeep
4.I love my snow shovel
3.suzuki samurais can actually fly
2.Brad needs to regear (3.07s and 35's ouch)
1. MT/Rs suck a whole lot less at 2psi than they do at 6psi
