GAP - Season Opening Ride - February 16, 2013

No problem with leaving a trailer there over night, gate will be closed and security on site

Which hotel? Some are more trailer friendly than others

Can't remember the name of that one I stayed at last year for Rockfest, think it was across from the Supper Club or some ****. It def was not trailer friendly lol I left my Taco on the trailer the whole weekend at GAP and just drove the tow rig back and forth

Think I remember you saying you were at the micromotel last year, which has the smallest parking lot of all the hotels on S. college st.

I plan on being out there that weekend, assuming my wife doesn't go into labor early. Looking like it's gonna be a great turnout.

Yes that was it, the Microtel.

Copied from reply #9:

Anything on south college street (hwy 29) is good and only about 5 minutes from the park. There is also an rv park right off the interstate exit and a state park within 5 minutes as well.

Quality Inn, Microtel Inn, Econo Lodge, Holiday Inn Express, Lexington Hotel University Convention Center are all on south college street and 5 minutes from the gate-on the same road.

The Microtel parking lot isn't very trailer friendly, but all of the others should be fine. The Lexington has the biggest parking lot by far. Microtel, Econo Lodge, and Quality Inn are all next door to Waffle House and the biggest club in town-The War Eagle Supper Club.

All of this (including the park) is on Hwy 29 (South College Street)-which is Exit 51 on interstate 85.

Microtel with Expedia seems to be the best bang for your buck. Was nice when I stayed there last year, good rooms and free continental breakfast was actually good. All the bacon, eggs, and biscuits you could eat :eat: I love some bacon!

edit: meant to say Priceline ^^^ instead of Expedia. Never used Expedia molaugh

Ahem ... camping is not sleeping in a tent or trailer in the middle of a muddy field surrounded by others doing the same with state of the art cookware and revving their engines, screaming, and getting drunk until 4am.

I could not agree more. But it brings the funny to hang out and watch everyone :drinkers: :drinkers: :flipoff1:

So are folks staying at the microtel????

I reckon me and Bug E J prolly will be. I couldn't find a hotel cheaper that was any closer when I made the trip down there last year for Rockfest, so it's got my vote. :dblthumb:

Hahahaha, it was raining when me and Chad went to Chocc for the bounty hill climb, I'll be wheeling the red beast this weekend at Hale Mtn and Hollytree for the trail clearing the week after GAP opening day. This is a broke ass time of the year for me and a weekend stay in Auburn with a 7 hour round trip drive just ain't in my budget.

It's like this, Fawkin washing machine **** out on me Sunday night so I gotta buy a new one, might buy a new dryer too cuz it's on it's last leg. My vehicle tags are due....TOMORROW dammit >:(, Spent wayyyy too much $$$ on the Gatlinburg cabin getaway last weekend, gotta get taxes done and hope to baby Jeezus that I don't have to pay in any like I did last year from claiming married and 10 on my paychecks about 4-5 months out of the year molaugh

All in all, these 1- 1 1/2 hour wheeling trips around the house ain't bad for now but 3 1/2 hour trip fuel bills there and back plus hotel rooming adds up.
