Do you guys use the cheap stuff from walmart or the epoxy? do you like it or does it suck just looking for some opinions before I paint my shop floor. thanks

When they redid our shop they had it acid washed and painted. Used a roller and some cheap ass **** from lowes. It lasted about 2 years and if you get gas or brake cleaner on it it turns back to paint and gets all over your boots or anything that touches it. :puke:

At the day job I'm an industrial consultant and we do a lot of coatings. If it were mine I'd go with Sherwin Williams macro proxy 646 with a clear urethane top coat for UV resistance. I would pressure wash the entire floor then get some like pro prep outta Nashville (should be around .75-1.00 a sq ft) to shot blast the floor. Or rest a shot blast rig or scarifier. If you want good tight adhesion you're going to have to mechanically prep the surface...

The most important thing I learned from pressure washing for years, it's all about the prep.. Use muriatic acid when pressure washing, soon as it gets good and dry lay that **** down. Me and my buddy did is, he was impatient and just swept the floors and it was peeling up everywhere, then I did another one with someone and we pressure washed it and it was a totally different outcome. Both use the kit with the bag of stuff that you sprinkle to make flakes on tha floor. U prob know what im talking about. The one that washed the floor first did use two coats of that stuff and let it dry very good. The only marks I saw was where he had a car park for a really long time. Some chips peed up when he moved the car. I would go with the Sherwin williams stuff as mentioned if it was me. Good luck

I just used this past weekend Valspar garage coat from Lowes. I really like the way it turned out. But like they said its all in the prep work!

I had my new shop floor finished smooth , then had it sanded, acid etched, and sealed. Love it.
Kevin, bringing this back to the top.

I'm bouncing back in forth between doing the last step. Not sure whether I should do just the concrete sealer or the epoxy flakes/sealer. I'm concerned that the stickies and moving rigs around will peel that **** right off. How did it hold up?
