Anyone runnin' 5.29's on the street DAILY? Will they run hot if driven, oh say, 8 hrs straight?
Was gonna do 4.88's, but thinkin' 5.29's may be better.....and I drive my rigs everywhere....no trailers.

If you running 36 inch or bigger tires..no problem.

FWIW i beat the crap out of genuine gears that i set-up for 4 years. No breakage, well until the inner birf seal let loose and all my gear oil went away.

I dont think 1000 bucks is going to get you where you wanna be lift tires gears steering etc. Once you start these things its like a can of worms. Alot of things can be done for cheap but it takes some skills and sounds like you dont have much experience yet.

Gears will cost 800 if you pull your own thirds and pay someone $150 each for install. In my opinion not really worth doing if your not installing lockers at the same time.

If your just cutting your teeth, new to working on rigs and on a limited budget, here is what I'd do. Should be able to do it for around $1000

Buy a new 4" lift kit. The parts will go on easy and have instructions.

Buy a good set of used 33" tires on 8" wide wheels.

Buy a lightly used warn 8000 winch with a mount or bumper that bolts on to your rig.

You should be able to do all this yourself with limited tools. It will also allow you to run most of the trails and develop you offroad driving skills. Also 33's and open diffs will minimize broken parts.
