Nothing wrong with the truck now, just wanted to know if you guys know of any local dealers that are good. I have only been to Susan Schein in Pelhman and was not thrilled. I have a feeling my injectors are close to going and want to take it to a dealer that has competant diesel mechanics and service managers that will not screw you at every chance.

How do you "think" your injectors are getting ready to go?

My truck was running like a striped ass ape down the road at 75 mph. I slowed down to exit running fine, stopped at the light and while sitting there it just started idling rough as ****. No warning it just fawked up.

nice thing is the 200K warrenty that goes with your engine once you have injector work done.

Rough idle and white smoke on idle. From what I have read it is either injectors or coolant being burned. My coolant level has not changed much, thank god because that fix is spensive. Everthing I read says injectors, and the smoke smells of diesel. There is no fuel in the crankcase however, which is another sign of failed injectors. I think they are going slowly, but they are going.

Take it in!!!
Rough idle on mine was I dropped a cylinder, and the injector was pumping the fuel directly into my crankcase and not into the cylinder.

Take it in now, don't chance the fuel in the case to wipe all your bearings.

I am still not convinced it is them, there is zero fuel in the crankcase. I will take it in they will run the balance rates and come back fine, I will be out the money to run the diagnostics. I am going to keep a close eye up on the fuel, crankcase and coolant. I could of also gotten a bad batch of gas.

Took it to Susan Schein based on Matt D's recommendation as he used to work there. They called yesterday and said that there appeared to be RTV around all the injectors and they would have to get GM approval from the DM before replacing, the DM is gone till Thursday. They call today and said they were replacing all 8 today, will call when done!!!!!!

My truck is gonna be right and it will cost me zero!!

BTW, I am driving my dads 07 Super Duty with the Triton 5.4. Wow what a dog, no power and terrible mileage. Don't ever buy a 3/4 ton truck with this motor. I tried to tell my dad this truck was no good, but he failed to listen.

lol...I've got a 97'Expedition with that 5.4.....it's lasted forever.....over 200k so far with no repairs.....but the thing doesn't have enough power to get out of it's own way! ;D

matt if you have any problems let me know i know the service manger good

Got it back today and man it is nice with new injectors! I did not have fuel in the crank, but I had return rates out of whack. I think they have been that way for a long ass time, maybe as long as I have owned it. Now the fuel smell and the smoking is gone, and the smell has been there for a while. I guess I can't complain about chevy since my truck has 140k on it and everything they did cost me $0. Of course it was their engineering mistake that caused it to break, but oh well. :flipoff1: So I should get better mileage, and all the ill effects are gone! I needed a new belt and tensioner and I replaced that **** tonight for all of $80, they wanted $300 to do it :o I am happy that my truck is right and I also figured out the wiring for the 7way in the bed!!! Hope to get the new trailer by the end of next week!!!!

That is freaking awesome. And a new trailer to boot.

They say hindsite is 20/20, now with my truck at 110k, I am really regretting lifting it 6" as it wears the **** out of the front steering every 5-8k. Top bring it back to stock would be rediculous as I dont have half the pieces and my lift entailed cutting all the bracketry off the front diff to lower it. So towing a gooseneck is out and thats what I want to get so I guess I have to treat myself to a new truck.........

Good luck with that, you really need to get one of those Dodges from Oneal or Big O and do a seat swap! I looked at the Duramax's today at the stealer and the sticker is 53k on the 4x4 crew cabs with leather :o

Have you looked into retrofitting some Cognito lift parts on your truck? I hear that make some sweet pieces to help with the steering.
