Good multimeter?

The clamp style is good for checking the amps on a circuit. On the normal style meter with the two probes you aren't suppose to check over ten amps. Where as with the clamp style it steps it down to a measureable amperage. I have seen the clamp style that comes with the probes also. All the ones we use at work are Fluke. If I were going to buy one it would be a Fluke. With that being said the one I have at home is an old craftsman that was gave to me years ago.

Most of the clamp meters dont measure dc amps.. The fluke ones that do are pricey.

I was unaware of this. I guess I just assumed that they would ac and dc amps. I have an amp clamp that is supposed to work with my bluepoint, but I never really figured the overly complicated thing out.

They vary from brand to brand.

Matco has a meter with the amp clamp that does DC voltage on sale right now, I can't find it online but it was in this weeks sales flyer. $200 ish I think?
