what is a good remover of spray paint? I have a bmx bike I want to recoat, and need to remove the old spray paint. Does Brakleen work? Or just a good laquer thinner?

I'm trying to remove, now two layers of paint to get back to bare metal (aka, chrome finish the bike originally had) so I can prime and paint it again.

...........(no)...........:redneck:

....but i really don't want black fingers either:looser:

i think i might just grab a bag of silica sand on the way home tonight from coast to choke....
get a mask too, silica and lungs don't play nice together. :corn:

yes MEK is still legal...barely. you just cant purchase very large quantities unless your a large company. but you could just go old school and sand it.:haha:

MEK is naturally occurring in produce (in small amounts). Go to Home Depot and get a few gallons, right next to paint thinner, xylene, etc.

Hell, brake fluid and gasoline are much, much worse for you and readily available.

sand blast it!
