I tow with a 2017 5.7 tundra myself. It does very well. Just went to Harlan last weekend and it got 15.3 mpg.

Is it the 3/4 ton model?

Nope, it's considered the 1/2 ton, but the rear end, 10.5 ring gear says different.

@redneckengineered in my defense, I never said it IS a 3/4 ton truck. I said it is rated almost identical TO a 3/4 truck. But I know how diesel smoke can cloud your vision. I forgive you.

@easleycrawler need to sell that gasser and buy a Cummins. That way you can invest into transmission parts. Seems to be the only way of thinking around these parts.

I had a 06 Cummins. Loved the Cummins, hated the piece of **** they stuffed it in.

I've been going about this all wrong. Is it better to buy a ford diesel that has existing engine problems or should I buy one that hasn't blown up yet?
