Hardline Long Distance Trip, Clayton, OK, May 1-4, 2008

Re: Green Acres ORV, Clayton, OK - Ride Thread

This is the long haul of the year, for those that want to make it. May 1-4th, 2008. The ride is 10 hour and 600 miles from Birmingham. I know that myself, Dollar and John have shown interest and would be counted as definates at this point, and Rich said he was very interested also. I can pull two rigs there and that will cut down on the fuel bill. Lodging is at the A&A in the middle of town which is setup for wheelers. Rooms are $50/night for two double beds, so it is pretty much dirt cheap. I know the distance is great, but if we can plan ahead and pull rigs up together and split rooms the cost will be minimal (like $350/rig for the weekend) So similar to RBD @ MMORV, this is my birthday weekend and I was gonna invite some non-club members along also if that is cool with everyone (3-5 extra rigs with one of those being a guide). Post up if you are planning on making it at this point

Re: Matt O. Day, Clayton, OK, May 1-4, 2008

i will be at this ride so i can pull two rigs if someone has a trailer long enough

I know this one is a long way out but everybody really needs to make an in or out decision soon, this way we can make arrangements. I am definately in, and if I can get a big trailer to pull two. Based on what I got last weekend, the fuel bill for two rigs would be around $450, which split is around $225. Hotel is $40-50 night and riding is $10/day. Food is cheap in town and they have grills and stuff if you want to cook out. If you split fuel and a room this trip is easily doable for $400. I have had a lot of people ask me about this trip (non-club members), and since it is my bday ride and I am betting than only about 4-5 members will go, I think it would be cool to invite a few others along.

You might as well make it an open ride, thats a commitment trip and not many will be able to make it for logistical reasons.

Im out for the fact that XRRA #2 is the 17th

If folks are interested and asking for a trip that long distance, I dont see any reason why they shouldnt be invited along. Not particularly an OPEN posted on the forums for any one ride, but if guys are asking or you have someone in quesiton, I dont see why it shouldnt be discussed and offered to outsiders, **** its along way off and a big ass trip.

We really need to be a bit more open on "our rides" I think, in general, but at the same time not 100% public knowledge type open.

Bailey and Big Lunch both asked me about it, and the MS guys did as well. I don't want to make it to open and have 15 rigs like last year, but I was thinking 7-8 rigs would be good. I thaink that John, Dollar, Joe and myself are all committed at this point, and Rich is a maybe.

if mine is running i will be there i am looking forward to this ride

This ride will not meet the demise of the previous ride we had planned this year. The date is firm, the location is solid and they have rooms available. We will be paying for this ride in advance and booking after the next meeting in March. Payment due at the April meeting for hotel. We need a firm headcount, no maybes or not sures, either in or out, by the March 4th meeting. Post up in this thread or bring the following info to the meeting:

Driver and any passengers
When you plan to leave for Clayton (Wed or Thurs)
# of beds you need in your room
If you would be interested in towing up on a dual rig trailer

Rooms vary from $40-50/night. Trip is about 10 hours one way. Using my truck as an example if we pulled two up and split fuel and today's fuel price the cost would be about $250/rig

i will be leaving on Thursday morning at about 5 am i can pull a long trailer if needed and another rig
i will need two beds one for me and one for Tim let me know the amount.are we sleeping in a hotel or a cabin if a hotel i can make reservations
i think we need to find a few more people to come along so we don't end up like this ride. i say lets ask Cole.
p the 17 is two weekends later you can make it happen you need seat time in the buggy don't be a *****

I have no interest in Clayton this year, Ive made to many other long haul commitments, it aint happening. thumb.gif

Paging Dollar.....

We had talked about going up on Wednesday to make it a longer time to make it more worthwhile. Are you still in on doing that? If not, I want to get with Joe on the two up trailer. Really prefer Wednesday if you can swing it.

Or Joe, can you go Wednesday?

Hello :flipoff1:

John, I am going Wed and I would like to tow 2 rigs up. I plan to ride Thurs-Sat, come back on Sunday. All the rooms have 2 beds and range from $45-50/night.

I agree we should open it up to people that want to make the trip. Although it does not need to be public like last year because we had WAY too many rigs on the trail. I know most people will not be able to make it since it is such a long trip, but Cole, Lunch, Bailey, etc. should all be invited. Personally I feel that if anybody is willing to make the trip then they should be invited. Then once we hit 8 rigs cap it off. That is plenty for Clayton. JIm or Nolen will be our guide and we will have 3 rigs from MS right off the bat.

We got 3 on Wed, heck yeah 3 days of riding in Clayton. Do you each want you own room? I need to get a passenger!

Sure can, I wanna leave early as crap on Wed so we can ride that evening. Might even wanna leave Tuesday night if you are down. Which rig you bringing?
