Taking a healthy week off in September (10, maybe 12 days total) to ride wherever I feel the desire. Mostly solo, but will plan out meetings with other riders on the way. Want to plan my route soon so I can set up more contacts along the route to meet a lot of folks.

All places are places I have never been, spend a day or so there and move on. Likely camp every other night or when it's crappy out. Leaving from east central IOWA :flipoff1:

Trip #1
Black Hills/Mt. Rushmore, on to Yellowstone and from there flip a coin

Trip #2
Head east through New York and into New England

Trip #2
Go into Canada and go with the flow

# 1 although the New England states are very nice that time of the year. Avoid the big cities, ride the back roads and it is some of the nicest terrain this country has to offer.

Yeah I will do a healthy mix of interstate and backroads which will string out my days to get from A-B, but I really do not care as long I enjoy it and have no issues.

I think a nice loop through Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota. It would be nice and flat good for riding right? :flipoff1:

I'd buzz through colorado by brice canyon on your way to the grand canyon... IMHO I'd break that trip into 2 or 3 different trips Bones... my family did a southwest tour in our motorhome back in the day there's so much to see dude I wouldn't go out just for the grand canyon. I'd spend some time by Lake Powell and there's some other spots I forget the names of them... Yellowstone, black hills SD was another trip and there was a really neat lake up there and a ski resort but we were there in the summer...(**** i forget I was like 14 when we did all that)... Mt. Rushmore all of that was cool and would be awesome roads to ride the scooter on... It's awesome seein the country---but man, don't rush through it all in 1 trip!! trust me...

Not rushing anything. I am just making a general route. I know i won't follow it and have no game plan other than enjoying my time off. Hell I could go to Minnesota and rent a cabin and canoe for 7 days and be in heaven. Just want to see some new sites and meet new people.

Aight, heres my route. Blackhills to Colorado. Head over the pass to the Dillon area and go rent a flyrod, fish, and be happy. Drive on south to the Salida area, and raft a little down the Arkansas river. Head west and hit Durango and Montrose then on North to Moab. Then west to Salt Lake City then on to Wendover to see the Salt Flats. Bonneville Speedweek is Aug 18-24, and World Finals are Oct 8-11. Going to the fastest place on earth is a HUGE trill during speedweek, I cant wait to go myself.

By then roll back to Iowa man.

Very good trip Wyatt, I will so some navigating on MapSource and see how that all pans out for distance on a day to day time frame. I will be out from August 29th (labor day weekend) through the 8th or 10th depending on how much time I want to burn.

Or you may get to the Breckenridge, Dillion, Keystone area, find a chick and just get all granola for a week. Sit around smoking bowl after bowl, and trying to talk her into shaving her legs. :dunno:

Damn too bad you couldn't make it a bit earlier and catch Speekweek.
I could I guess, but I am doing this with no real destination in mind or any events. I am turning into a hermit and it shows. laughing1

I can move the dates back and forth. That's my bday week so I figure why not? :dunno:

I worked at Yellowstone in the summer of 02'. Man that place is awesome! I have wanted to go back for a while now. I got to do some wheeling in the Beartooth Mtn range just outside the N.E. entrance. That trek from there to Red Lodge Montana is one of the best senic rides in the U.S. I would recommend this trip to everybody. The park just has so much to do/see. But you cant do it in a week, or two weeks. It took me 4 months and I still didn't see everything. I hiked middle Teton in the Teton mtn range also. HEre are some pics.
