I may just knock off Mt Rushmore this weekend instead of canoing for one day. 
Leave f\Friday after work, ride all night and hang in S Dakota Sat/Sun and head home leasurely Monday sometime.

Yeah thats a damn good path. Only thing I would change is head west out of Salt Lake City (120 miles west) to Wendover.
Just to see this view in person, and pose with the sign. Fastest Raceway on EARTH, SON!

You could then head north on 93 to Twin Falls then head East to pick up 15 North and resume your trip.

I went to the salt flats back in 94?? when me and an ex went on a road trip from IA to Denver, Vegas, Diego, Lake Arrowhead, San Fran and back we hit the flats. It is some cool ****. Wish I had pics from that trip.
Dollar, Vegas was just on for reference, I will hit Hoover Damn and bypass Vegas or roll right through, I have no desire to be there for some reason

The Damn Dam tour is something everyone should do. For me it was kinda extra cool, because everyday I trade power at Mead, so it was cool to actually visit the point I transact at.
I feel ya on Vegas as well, now even more that I'm married. Vegas is fun when single, but now I have to have morals. I'll be there in two weeks for work, and purposely have a trip setup driving 100 miles south to Parker, Arizona to visit one of our powerplants.

Vegas just does nothing for me. I am not a gambler, I hate drunk/drugged idiots in large numbers (other than in Bama) and hookers don't even make it interesting enough to want to drop my coin there.

Trip #1 looks cool, anything out west is fun to me. We did Yellowstone and the Tetons back in 02 I think and it was so much damn fun. Rafting down the Snake, Fly Fishing the Green, Hiking Jenny Lake and 2 days in Yellowstone. All were lots of damn fun.

Well change of plans.
Going to Attica for what I will assume is the last XRRA East race for me and taking the following week off to ride East, Southeast or up into New England and back through Canada.
Works better for me as my Bday is the same day as my hometowns first football game (September 5th) after the tornado and it will be a pretty damn big event I want to be a part of.
