if you are, I am able to help!! :****: Let me know if you need any advice or have any questions and Ill try and point you in the right direction! 503-435-9599.

My '97 F350 7.3 won't start if it's parked uphill. I've been told it's the low pressure oil pump and the engine has to come out to replace it. I back it into my driveway so it's downhill and it starts fine. Any input on this?

2003, 7.3l. Get a 1211 ICP out of range/control when under load for an extended period. Starts well, runs pretty well, could have more umph.

Changed:

ICP
IPR
Injectors
Up pipes
Boots
EBPV
Wicked wheel
TS performance chip(does it wit or without chip)

I do suspect it may have a PCM from an auto tranny truck. Mine is a 6 speed.

Fuel pressure has been monitored while driving and shows good.

Has had 2 different T500 HPOP and does it with both as well as the stock pump.

Tank filter eliminated.

It does not pull Monteagle with 8-9k like it should.

Try running your engine over full by about 2 quarts. I've run into this before. It sucks air into the hpop because of a mistake by ford on oil level.

Overfilling it might help, but it could have a cracked or leaking pickup tube causing air intrusion. The lpop can be changes with the engine in the truck, if the pickup is the issue you will have to have the engine removed to fix.

What injectors did you use? Was the 1211 before all of the stuff was changed?

Matt, I'm embarrassed to say I used Pensacola injectors before I new better. Problem existed before I did any of the listed mods or changes.

Starts great even in extreme cold without plugging in warmer.

So Matt you back up an running again?

Kind of...right now I'm working with Irate diesel doing his sales from the house but I could use some "side work" to keep me busy. I am slowly getting some new projects figured out and hope to be back better than ever soon.

Re: Having cold start issues with your Powerstroke tow rig?

Have you monitored ICP while towing heavy? Does ICP drop and ipr duty cycle climb?
As far as the injectors go, the price they have can be tempting so I understand. Butttt.....try are a terrible "rebuild" company. lol.

Re: Having cold start issues with your Powerstroke tow rig?

I do believe that was monitored and think the duty cycle was in line. Do you think it would run with an auto computer?

Reason I suspect is when I installed the chip, there were different instructions for auto and straight shift due to the bracket and pedal layout.

I had to use the auto instructions even though the truck is a straight shift.

And now that I know more about injectors, I will always doubt the ones I bought!!!

It can actually throw the code unloaded under WOT.

Oh, and it takes way more to get the CEL when it is not warmed up.

I doubt it would have anything to do with the computer unless someone did a 6 speed swap in the truck but even then, it should not affect ICP directly that I know of. Is the chip tuned for a 6 speed or auto? You said it does it without the chip so something is off in the engine. Either you are not getting good supply of oil on the low pressure end or its still bleeding off on the top end. The fact that the IPR is in line is very odd too.

Re: Having cold start issues with your Powerstroke tow rig?

When I say IPR is in line I seem to remember it being high, but not too high?!?

It is an original truck that I suspect someone may have replaced the computer with one from an auto. I need to pull it and get the code off the box.

Re: Having cold start issues with your Powerstroke tow rig?

Pull it and get the code. In most cases, and IPR duty cycle more than 45% is too much.

Re:

Paul... did u notice a difference in the WW2??

I'm am currently this week putting a new hpop, ipr and icp with bellowed up pipes on my 7.3.......i didn't jump at the WW2 yet..we just dropped the tanks last month and clean and replaced the in tank filter due to they being clogged and killing my fuel pump..

Re: Having cold start issues with your Powerstroke tow rig?

The wheel actually upped my mileage and it also makes boost lower and quicker.

You shoulda gutted the tank filter and put a giant external one.

Re:

I think i will do that to thw tank soon... it should be OK for a few months now with new filters. ...bit I'll also look into thw ww2.. did you install it yourself?

Re: Having cold start issues with your Powerstroke tow rig?

Yes. On the truck. Took an hour. (The wheel). The tank a couple hours.
