Heat-treated Ring and Pinion

Well, on Hips and Karl's advice I ordered a set of Superior Gears from Northridge 4x4. Still trying to decide if it is worth taking them down to Longfield.

Broke my Yukon 4.88 front LP r/p with a 4cyl and 33s. Stock shafts and 760 u joints. When the r/p let go the wheels were cranked to the right. Also, Iwas on a steep muddy hill, meaning the rear had most of the weight and the front should have had next to no traction.

A good friend of mine also just broke his LP 30 ring and pinion, identical to mine except for 35's. Those gears broke in snow, before the 28 spline axles in his rear Ford 9 inch.

Both of our gears were about a year old and only had a few trail runs on them. Also, they were definately set up correctly. The 30 ring and pinion is just small!
