Heims or JJ's/flex joints/balistic

The only advantage that a Heim has over a JJ is mounting real estate requirements when fabb'n. Some may argue strength but like I said previously, I've been wheelin a set for at least 8 years with no issues.

A good quality heim is WAY MORE $$$ than a JJ. I will never argue on that.

The strength is just what I have played with and seen documented. I still think a GOOD heim is stronger, but I do believe that a JJ will still hold up and last longer.

I don't have a bunch of real estste to play with on my design and I am worried about bashing the steel housing of a flex joint and either A- spilling its guts out or B- not being able to service without a blue-wrench.

Also I believe the proper heim for what I am going to build "shouldn't" develop slop for years (this is just my speculation).

I don't know about those big heims that Bunk runs but standard 5/8" or 3/4" heims will develop slop in a matter of months. For example, I replace the 3/4" heims on my tie rod at least once a year.

Give'm a try, you can alwyas swap'm out later.

Thanks for all the input boys! I think I'm leaning towards the JJ's, I like them because you can get them with the forged 2.5" housing and studs all together for $39.99 a pc, the balistic fab equivilant was about $37.99 a pc, vs. the summit machine flex joint for $26.99 (but I would still have to weld on the studs which are extra...) so might aswell go with the brand name that's all ready to go. Thanks for the PM Bunk, sounds like the way to go! I will let you know. For those of you who don't know me I'm Brook from Randy's ring & pinion, used to wheel a red YJ, and the buggy I speak of I just purchased from Brian Anderson (self proclaimed "legend of Uroc":fawkdancesmiley

My bad, TRUGGY... And yes, that's the one. She's still yellow & orange but I'm going to paint it, still not sure on what color yet.

another vote for johnny joints, I have ran them for many yrears with great results. At first I had cheap ones and they held up great till I put the ls1 in and I started spittin clipps, But Im in the prosses of switching them out for curries. Ask money mark what he would rather have.....................
