Hey Guys Need Your Input For My K5

all true facts but i dont know about u warjeeper but i aint made of money and throwing out over a grand at one time for a front axle seems out of my budget range right now. And i thought there is more involved when swapping one ton **** into a half ton. like cv's and like driveline yokes mating up to the big old new hurky ones. but yeah go for it. if you break that setup u are doing sumthing wrong.

Nope not made of money thats why my **** sits in the garage a lot:redneck: i wait until i have the money to do it right then do it and wheel the piss out of it

yeah i am taking that route with my jeep building just like the ultimate money can buy but very slowly cause i have no money lol. and then my ford i just slowly upgrade little bits as i see fit. I have dumped 5grand into that thinig since i have owned it and it is just now finally starting to come together.

hell if hes got the money to go 60/14 bolt get them now so he doesnt waste money on axelshafts and all the rest......and a d44/gm 10 bolt cannot take 36's or 38's on a fullsize truck for very long. i busted my front with 36's easily in the sand. yes they can take it some but not for very long

Thats what i was saying, it just makes more sense to do it now

i have a 14 bolt and if i were to buy an axel for a wheeler id get either a dana 70 or and 80 for a full size because a gm 14 bolt has limitted gearing to somethin like 4.88 its rediculous while you can get a 7.17 for a dana 70 or 80 and theire still strong just not as quiete as theyre cut for machinery

Well actually they make as low as 5.38's for a 14bolt i have them in mine. And I have friends that run half tol axles with 38's or 40's and beat the piss out of them and no one has broke anything yet except me causei attepmt **** i probably shouldn't with my truck the way it is built.

1/2 ton axels can take 35' and 36's i dont think he is building a motor madness offraod monster its a dd that will see offroad use and eventually only offroad. But hye u got the money go for it

I say this again no dana 60 has a 6lug design so do not get that axle.

ok guys so i talked to the guy again today. he said that the dana 60 is 8 lug. he said that he would sell me a dana 60 front posi and 14 bolt full float rear posi with matching gears for $700? i asked him why he is selling it so cheap and he said he is trying to move to Oregon. Im still trying to get him to send me some pics of the axles. ill post them up when i get them
thanks for the help

The whole axles, or just the posi units.

$700 for a 60 front is borderline stealing it.

Make sure it is a 60 and not a 44, they look similar.

Ya---riiiiiiiight... Just look at the u-joints on the front shaft----simular :haha: :haha: :haha:

Well once you take a look at em and are sure its a 60 buy that thing up cause man thats a steal!

to convert a dana 60 to 6 lug requires a new hub and adaptor assembly
NO FRONT 60'S ARE 6 LUG IT IS A ONE TON AXLE

They make a 6 lug hub (no adapter) that goes right on a chevy dana 60. You must use a 1/2 ton caliper and rotor (with a custom caliper bracket).:redneck:

But why would somebody want to do that?

Thats what I paid for a DRW 60 front then another 300 for the SRW hubs&rotors.

If this deal works out It's all about the 60 consider the 14 bolt free.
