HF Tube Notcher, Will It Work?

HF notcher lasted about a yr blew it up last week took it in got a brand new one said i purchased it 3 weeks ago:cheer:

I sent you a text about the bender. Not about going on a bender LOL! Gabe sent me a text this morning, said that you might let me borrow yours for the weekend.

That would be HUGE!:awesomework:

So I have a small project to do, making some tube doors for my runner. I bought the HF pipe kinker and tube notcher. It didn't seem to make sense to invest a bunch of money for a small project.

Anyway, I've not been able to find a really GOOD hole saw, just standard quality. Any suggestions on a brand, type of material etc to use?

I use Rigid saws and have one with 50+ notches under it's belt and still works great..,

The key is to use slower speeds and cutting oil(I use CRC)... I use an 18v Dewalt cordless on the slowest setting... Also setting the clutch on the drill so it will ratchet when it binds will save your arm...

X2 on shimming it for some sizes...

So, I changed to 1 1/2 tube since the nice bender I just borrowed only had dies for 1 1/2" Should I use a 1 1/2" hole saw or go slightly larger, say 1 5/8" or 1 3/4"?

1 1/2 Hole saw cuts perfect, like it was posted above shim out the tube clamp or it will notch off center. I just used one washer for each bolt and it works fine.

I just spent a weekend getting to know my HF tube notcher. LOVED it. I'm sure there are lots better but it did it's job flawlessly for the tasks that we gave it.

Got my doors done. Well the bulk of them. I have a little stuff to do on the latch system, skinning the bottom etc.

X2..took about three minutes to set up and about ten minutes to make 6 notches, no way you could do it faster with a chopsaw. :awesomework:
