A $300 Savage Axis shoots just about as well, show off!

Agree with you but she enjoy shooting long range. She actually takes shooting lessons. She has a shooting coach. She would rather do that than to play with Barbies or go shopping with her mother. Major win for me and cheaper in the long runn

Perfect size by the way to all the professional deer biologist they are last year's deer

Thank you a lot of deer around that area your from. You ever go back and hunt.

yeah I go down to my box stand whenever I'm down at mom and dad's. I missed a chance on a good 10 pt the other weekend. I took dad's new 308 that I haven't shot, deer was walking at ~400 yards and the scope was on 24x, so by the time I found the deer in the scope it was walking around the corner of the field.

Not sure I would have shot at it anyway, gun is supposed to be zero'd at 200yrds, but the elevation turrent wasn't on zero, so I had no idea (at the time) if the turrent had been zero'd and it was clicked up.

I did bust a yote at 30 yrds or so. :dblthumb:

Wife got her first deer yesterday. It was too small to shoot, but she didn't know and it was her first so we let it slide:

A 180 grain .308 leaves a mark:

I shot a big ole coyote this afternoon:

Holy **** that puts my 7 mag to shame. Makes me want an upgrade! :****:
Just started hunting with a 7mag, shot my first doe yesterday with it. Didn't hit a shoulder and she ran off 30 yards and died.

Thought i pulled a bad shot, every deer ive hit with 30-06 have dropped in there tracks. Besides antelope, they are just different.

I woukd change ammo. My 7 mag puts the smack down. Deer don't take a step and I usually shoot a little far back to save the meat in the front shoulders. I shoot ballistic tips

Ballistic tips for the win. The only thing I don't shoot ballistic tips is 6.5cm and 260rem

We shoot the 180 grain Winchester Power Points.. that's what the deer and coyote above was shot with. We actually switched my wife's gun to the 150 grn cause it shoots them more accurately than the 180s. It's a compact with the shorter barrel and it doesn't stabilize the heavier bullet as well.

We used to shoot the Winchester Ballistic Silvertips, but they were expensive and harder to find. They did great though, but so do the Power Points and they are half the price and you can just about find them at a service station especially in .308 and 30-06.

7mm mag is awesome though and will drop deer just like a .308. Just gotta use the right bullets, but the same goes with anything. I shot a deer on Thanksgiving with a .308, but the mag was loaded with the wrong bullets. It was like a jacketed hollow point (target round), make a small hole on each size and the deer ran 50-60 yards. When I gutted it, there was pretty much a pin hole through both lungs..

That deer above that my wife shot with the 4-5" hole actually made it about 15-20 yards.. I was totally surprised cause it's heart wasn't even there anymore when I field dressed it. Anything can happen.

But my family members killed 3 more this weekend, all with 180grn Power Points (we all shoot .308) and they all took a dirt nap.
