Do any of you that have mounted your ram-ASSIST steups to your diff cover, had any issues with breaking bolts on the cover or them coming loose etc.?!?! I'm just not sure that's the route i want to go, but i'm not keen on "welding" to the cast diff housing either.... Anyone able to say "hey, i've ran my hydro-assist mount on my diff cover for YEARS, never had an issue" :corn:

My full hydro ram is mounted to a 1/4" thick cover. No issues at all so far.

ok, ya this cover has an extra 1/4" strap steel piece welded to the cover.... so i'm not worried about the cover ripping, just worried about it causing the cover/housing face to leak....:eeek:

check out the clamp load on 10 3/8 or 1/2" bolts.

we have all Dropped our rig on the diff cover. and generally they don't leak unless you punch a hole in it.

if you figure you drop 2000 lbs from 1 foot, that is almost 4000 foot lbs impact force.

steerng ram will not take it off.

Included in me "no issues" statement includes no leaks.. :flipoff:

But honestly I would be suspect of a thin cover even with 1/4" steel welded to it...

I have my ram welded to my front cover. I bought a cover from ruffstuff that uses tapered bolts. This is supposed to keep the cover from moving and prevent leaks from occurring. I don't know if it is needed or not but I had to order a new cover anyway and the upgrade to the tapered bolts was 5 or 10 bucks. I do know that Dan's 3/8 cover is indestructible and he ships in flat rate boxes so freight is cheap as hell. :awesomework:

my full hydro ram is mounted to my ruff stuff cover as well. Flat rate boxes are cool, but they dont hold up to ****. My boxes from dan are always ripped open

Its a 1/2 - 3/8 plate steel diff cover that you are going to have no mercy on once installed.:eeek:

So I would rather it be shipped in no box so I can imagine what kind of carnage it caused the post office!:stirpot:
