So after winning the Alloy axles at Joe's benefit BBQ for a Dana 44. I had a mission...and after I have been seeing all of these budget builds that everyone talks about. I decided to do a real budget build, on a real budget. I sold my Dana 30 (ARB,4.88's,Compressor, new joints, etc..) for $1100. So that was my budget. I'll keep all prices confidental. But here's the specs:

Drivers Low pinion Dana 44
new Alloy USA U-joints and shafts
new Solid diff guard
refurbished Detroit locker
new Precision 4.88 gears
Chevy spindles
New Chevy caliper's
New Chevy brake lines
New Ceramic pads
Ford Bronco Hubs
Ford rotors
New Warn premium hubs
2 New black rock crawler wheels, No deal there damn they've gone up in price.

I was in budget until I just had to get my drive shaft shortened. But I recoupe the cost by selling my old wheels. So I am only -$65

But for $65 out of my pocket I scored a pretty decent Dana 44.

Now hows that for a budget build?

Looks good to me. I woulda done spring over. :flipoff:

Anyway, so now you're running 5 on 5.5 in the front and 5 on 4.5 out back?

yep for now until I get a super 88 kit for my rear. Then I'll switch the rear to 5 on 5.5

so now you have an axle that has the same size u joints, practically the same inner shafts, and the same size ball joints as your previous D30 AND your still spring under? :fawkdancesmiley:

With the Dana 30 I only had one major failure and that was the clips that hold the u-joint in. There half clips one popped off, walked the cap out and then exploded. The ball joints are actually bigger than a Dana 30, and the inner shafts are way bigger than the Dana 30. 27pline vs. 30 spline. Plus chromoly shafts. My shafts have a 10 year warranty. If it breaks , it breaks, Story of my life, nothing new. :flipoff:

Sprung under just sweetens the deal

for $65 out of pocket you cant complain
