i would be pist!!!aka pissed off

Re: i would be pist!!!

Because he could. JV is public land, anyone could have been on the course at any time. Only leverage comes from promoters who have authority to ban persons from future races. Shannon traveled a long way, spent a ton of money, people wanted to see him run, get it.

Re: i would be pist!!!

From HammerKing:

The real deal on Shannon Campbell

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All the crap is getting ridiculous.

Here are the facts.

Shannon Campbell did not put anyone at any risk.

He was Disqualified for getting towed back to camp.

A course volunteer confirmed the checkpoints were still open, Shannon fixed his car and got back on course.

We communicated through our checkpoints that Shannon was DQ'd. Shannon acknowledged that communication and expressed his desire to stay on course.

Shannon had direct communication with Jeff Knoll, my partner, in the main pit at MM 65.

Jeff allowed Shannon to continue on course.

Shannon stopped at all checkpoints with the exception of Check 4 (where they said they didn't see him at all)

Shannon did make contact with Will Carter. Will did file a red card. Will made two requests as a matter of being made whole. Both requests were fulfilled at Shannon's expense.

He paid his price for being involved in that incident.

WE gave him the go ahead to stay on course. He was not acting inappropriately.

Those are the facts.

As far as what we have learned:

The BLM has given us permission to treat our course as a closed course. We did not have a mechanism to physically remove cars from the course, now we do.

We need to nail down the method of DQ'ing a car and ramifications for continuing on.

All rules and ramifications need to be written down and followed objectively.

This is my official statement.

From my personal perspective, I don't know many people on this planet and specifically in racing that are more humble and genuinely a good guy than Shannon Campbell.

Be should have allowed the driver time to get out and verify he was not pinned or hurt.
thats the reason i would of been "pist" aka pissed off

Re: i would be pist!!!

Good angle there. He beat the crap out of that rig. The guy was obviously pinned and could not get out no matter what. I am sure the crowd would have played a role in this if in fact Will was in any danger. Not cool to ram the **** out of his rig, but probably would have made it easier with a set of 18" x 39" Mickey Thompson Baja Belted tars. molaugh

Re: i would be pist!!!

If I were in the rig gettin driven over, layin there on my side I would not have been a happy camper.

That beign said I don't have an opinion.. I was not there.

Re: i would be pist!!!

The DQ'd driver should not have been on the course. The DQ'd driver should have pulled out of the wat of the COMPETITOR behind him so he could carry on with his race. The DQ'd driver should not have been beating on a rig when it was down.

To anyone that has taken up for that DQ'd driver, Just imagine what would have been said/done to you had you been beating on him if you were in the dirvers seat of that buggy. I highly doubt you would ever be able to race again.

Yes I know who that driver was, just don't respect or care enough to type his name.

I concur.

Re: i would be pist!!!

I don't know Shannon Campbell and really don't have adog in this fight. but SAFTY ALWAYS COMES FIRST!!!! If he had waited a spilt second to find out that his fellow competitor was ok and then went on I would not put my .02 in . But putting someone in danger over a race or anything is not cool.

Just my .02 might be wrong might be right ,but what the heck I wasn't there.

Re: i would be pist!!!

I don't care who he is and how nice he is, there is no excuse for that. Thats not rubbin. It wouldn't matter if he was dq'd or not. The first vid that came out didn't look near as bad as these last ones. If that were to happen with a group of friends on a ride I am sure he would have gotten pulled from his rig and beaten.

Re: i would be pist!!!

Will should have just pulled into the pits after the race and T Boned Shannon's car right in the passenger side door and then quietly pulled off. Hey rubbin is racin and fair is fair.

That is my thoughts!

what a way with words. I pretty sure that would have been me laying there, Shannon would be eating thru a straw for a while. I don't think he's a bad guy just in a bad situation. I agree with Skillet SAFETY FIRST

PIST is such a great word!!!

I know . My cat makes that sound every time I walk in the room. I think he is starting to like me !

I don't know Shannon either but if this is the way he wheels all the time I don't ever want to be on a trail with him. That was not safe at all. He had no way of seeing the guys inside the rig he was beating on. Its bad enough that he drove over his rig but to do it with someone inside is just wrong. No consideration at all.

Guys this is how the race works. If you break or flop and cannot move, you become the trail. This is not a trail ride, there was a lot of **** on the line for the fast cars in the race. Shannon is great for the sport, the end. Sure he could of showed some restraint, but that is just how it went.
