Ok here's my tow rig - http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthrea...30#post7408030

We swiped a parked car with the back end and it got turned into the cops and our insurance.

We'll my insurance agency is questioning how it was presented to their sales people.

I callled and said I need to add my new rv - 2000 Freightliner FL70 RV. They said no problem it will be XXXX per year. OK thanks!

Now after I gave my statement about the accident they ask if my wife can give a statement too. Well she wasn't there why would you need to talk to her. There are some questions on what type of vehicle it is and how it was added to the policy. I added it to the policy so if there's anything you need just ask me. He asked if it been converted - nope. He ask if it is a "tractor-trailer" - nope.

1hr later I recieve a call from an appraisers office and they need to set up a time to come inspect the vehicle - I'm not making a claim on my vehicle and the only damage was a tail light.

I call the insurance company and ask why I have to take my time to meet an appraiser and they say they have to inspect all vehicles that are involved in an accident - Bullshit.

Sounds like I'm about to get screwed!

I think you will be fine - sounds like the agent you used added the truck to the policy incorrectly. Meaning the right symbol was or specified vehicle charge was not used and they just want to see it. If indeed it was added to the policy incorrectly it is by no fault of your one - it is the agent's responsibility.

They will take your money all day long, but if they ever have to pay money out they will look for ANYTHING to deny payout! I mean ANYTHING! Did I mention ANYTHING!!!

What is it tagged in Kansas as?

tagged in KS as an RV

I had to call 4 times to get it added - said the same thing each time
I called them before the purchase to get a price and all that stuff and they didn't give me any problems so I was wondering then

called and asked why they were having it "inspected"

they said it was in an accident and all vehicles are inspected - really bout a year ago my wife hit a lady at the grocery store and no one inspected our Honda then??? they didn't have an answer to that.

Called the appraiser lady - asked why they were called to "inspect" my vehicle. She said to asses the damage - I told her there was none and she just said "huh?" She does alot of work for my insurance company and said they don't ever do that for a vehicle that's not damaged. She'd call the ins. co. and see what they wanted to do.

Well I know what they want to do - screw me!
Fawk them I'm about done with them. We have never had a pleasant experience with them - EVER
I always say I'm gonna switch but they are 1/2 price of anything else and with 5 cars and the house - that makes a big difference

Does the description on your insurance card match the vehicle? If it does you have nothing to worry about. If it doesn't then it might become a problem.

The company is a special "member" thing and my wife is eligible because she is a teacher. It's is only availble to certain people that type thing, I wouldn't be eligible by myself. It's kinda weird but it's supposed to be just another insurance company and all the other teachers use it with no problems. We just have weird vehicles and different requirements than "normal" people.

while I'm at it should I show them the other vehicle they insure?

maybe ask for full coverage and get their "appraiser" to appraise it for parts

I don't - spill em!

They've got some really bad timing - I just watched that show where guys build or steal tanks and go on a rampage thru town killing or destroy those that have "wrong'd" them.

<self hijack> does anyone else try to read Nolen's screen name that way? (wrong'd or something)

Chances are they will screw you HARD laughing1

Seriously I would not think there is anything out of the ordinary happening - they just mis classed you ride.

they won't insure vehicle like mine - but will insure RV's of similar size, airbrakes, GVWR etc

and mine is an RV!!

I called and tried to just get it insured as a big truck before all this went down and they wouldn't. So I called and added the word RV to the end of every sentence and it was all good

Okay - worst case scenario you ride is a prohibited item for them but they had you VIN number if if they ****ed up it is their fault. Hold their damn feet to the fire - or they will screw you if given half a chance.

yea I'm gonna have to stick to my guns on this one and make em pay before they drop me - but they will loose ALL my business if they drop that vehicle - probably no matter what.

I think we've paid like 3-400 for 1 year coverage (full) on the "RV" so that wouldn't even cover it if they gave our premiums back.
They tried that before, I have free towing on all my vehicles ($50 yr) and I finally used it couple years back. They asked all kinds of info on my vehicle with the main one being the mileage. I said 175k and they said well the towing doesn't cover vehicles over 150k. I've had them for ~8yrs at that point and paid every year for towing and asked them to check their records - I've never owned ANY vehicle less than 150k so why have they been charging me for something they aren't going to pay out on. Needless to say I got towed free and I still have towing although I bet I'll get the same **** when I try to use it again

If you go through an independant agent, contact them. If not, IMO, you should, gives you somebody on your side at the insurance company.

Travis you might be fuked. What plates did KS issue you? truck or RV

trying to get my yota insured I wanted to go thru an "agent"

I wanted someone to come out and look at my stuff and write me a policy. Most said no, others said no problem, but I then asked them to read the fine print for a clause on modifications to the vehicle. Every single company had the same thing: Any modifications to suspension, body, anything meant they didn't cover it. Sure they'd let me pay the premiums but when I needed them they'll just say it says so right here in the fine print that they aren't responsible. NOBODY was able to have that removed from the policy. And this was only for Liability!
