JT gave me a shout today on his way back from Texas... He won Speedcrawl :drinkers: Congrats to him! I haven't been online to check coverage, have you guys seen any pics?

None, but he needed a win.

Great guy from what I hear, but has not won **** in a while.

Who hosted Speedcrawl?

It was at the same location as WeRock Grand Nationals, Spring Creek Offroad Park. I considered running and blowing off my commitment in Austin. But in the end decided, to save the rig for Alabama in case I destroy something. Maybe a mistake, cause that location is 45 minutes from my house. Vs. 10 hours to Bama. DOH!
My understanding pre-event was the only names coming were Nicole Johnson flying in, and the Militia Crew driving in. To hear JT made it is pretty cool.

Though seriously, I live in Houston, and am on Pirate, and the Tuesday before was the 1st I'd heard of it. That is sad.

BTW he's done with the 3/4X3/4 heims... Last year when I was out shootin' his rig at KOH(prerun) he broke one, then another this year at KOH, and then at Moab he broke one so he's all 1-1/4" now :afro:...

And Wyatt, he only heard about it last week also. Jim told me Militia rig didn't pass tech so Nichole didn't end up driving but I have not been on pbb yet so I don't know what all happened.

She said it would not start on Pirate, but who knows.

I was wondering when he was going to lose the 3/4 lowers. It is about time. The only thing I did not like about Carl's Jimmy's rig.

Well I'd imagine ya have to start it up at tech right? :flipoff1: laughing1 Like I said what my info was is here-say laughing1 I'm kinda busy today so only time for one board laughing1

And ya after 3 event breaks it was time he's happy he switched :drinkers:

We dont run 3/4 X 3/4 we run 7/8 X 3/4 and I have ran they on comp. rigs for more than two season and had no trouble, thats what we run on Brians, 1 1/4 is way over kill but then again J.T. can't drive for **** so they will work for him thumb.gif With the little motors Nolan runs, 5/8 would work :flipoff1:

hell a 3/4 X5/8 is stronger than a 3/4 x 3/4 :drinkers: laughing1

Shoot, most of the rigs around here are 7/8x7/8 at least, and the builders like Woodlee and Coleworx won't use anything smaller than 1-1/4". Usually when a rodend breaks it takes out expensive suspension and driveline parts with it... I'm a rebuildable 2.5" rodend guy myself, even though I blew the bushings out of a 2.5" "boulder joint" on my first ride. I've broken two mounts and one bolt but I don't think I could break that end.

I'll use what ever the customer wants, but all we use on the comp rigs of all my buddies and some of the other ones we have built are all 7/8 X 3/4 every builder is different, but we dont built 5000lbs rigs, well one four seater with rockwells and we used 1 1/4 heims on it but I am sure it will be the last rockwells in this shop thumb.gif

deal with the 7/8 X 3/4 is that the hole for the bolt is smaller which makes the joint stronger than a 7/8 x 7/8, that's why I made the comment about the 3/4 x 5/8 :woody:

I'd rather it weight 3300lbs than have small heims. :flipoff1:
gotta be able to with stand rock bouncing.

The Bash Buggy had 1.25 lowers and 3/4 on the upper links, just like my new car will. thumb.gif

There are tons of foks that get away with 3/4 lowers but I dont see any reason for it.

I'm pretty sure he said the upper 3/4 was the one he had trouble with but I could be mistaken.

with good chromo 3/4"x3/4" uppers that only see straight loads (tension and compression) you should never ever have any trouble. that said I went chromo 3/4"x7/8" on my uppers. Lowers, different forces, different story. I don't want to come down out of the sky onto a rock off a jump on a lower link and trust a little bitty joint to hold its ass up.
