This is a horrendous kdp failure. When i got my truck i took it to Dynamic diesel to get the kdp tabbed. Long story short they didnt do it and 5000 miles later it fell out. Causing a bit of damage. 2nd pic is about $400 of chipped gears, last one shows tab that dynamic booty fabbed and said was installed.

I feel a beat down comming on. :wtf:
There was a beat down alright :D

So let's talk about this. How may hours of labor are we looking at to do the KDP fix? Does it require special tools?

I think you gotta have some kind of jig?

Sounds like a refund is the least they can do.

The jig is one method. Putting a tab over the dowel pin is another.

I think Bunk already got a refund.

Yet. For such an easy fix, is it worth taking a chance?

I haven't fixed mine...and I don't think the previous owner had either...I've been told by various individuals (different BBS's) that if it hasn't happened after 250,000 miles it wont happen at all.

Yep, I'm taking the chance

The owner of Dynamic flat out lied to me...He said the tab was in there, bent out allowing the kdp to fall out and it then bent back. I asked him to repeat that to me several times...then i told him im a machinist and a ex mechanic and theres no way it could happen. He lied to me again. I then took it to dynamite diesel and got a lawyer. Lets just say that Dynamic payed for everything and then some. The truck ran fine after the kdp let go although it was leaking oil. Sometimes the kdp can just fall to the pan and miss the gears, But theres not much room for that to happen.

Yes, but it's not as common on the 24V's.

Your stoned if you believe that.:rolleyes:

It is very common on trucks as new as 2001. As for it not falling out in 250k, I would be more concerned about it with high miles.:;

Why don't you let me know when you can jump in a gas powered anything with over 200k and tow a 12,000 lb load 75-80MPH across the US and make it.........my cummins did.:stirpot:
