Knuckle thread #2

Sure it would be a lot quicker the more we did, but like I said still dont get to use the equip. enough to justify. Also if we had a fixture to bolt them to, wouldn't take but just a little time. There again a lot of work just for the little time we get to play. dunno If I had the equip. I would def. look into doing some.

Kelly, dad and I have been looking for one for quite sometime. We haven't been able to find one that is a good compromise of $'s over quality. Its either worn out and reasonable, or nearly worn out and high dollar.
I will have a mill in '08, that and I'm looking for a larger lathe. The lil' bitty one that dad has is awesome for so many things, but its for small parts. I want one to thread links and part off parts.

That all said, I've got 5 knuckles that I'd toss in the pile for modifications. (Yeah one spare)

Is everyone just wanting the knuckles keyed or the whole shabang knuckles and arm i know you cant really have one without the other but noone has said anything about arms if you just want the knuckles the time will be cut way down and may be a little more feasable just let me know i dont have a problem doing them its just finding a good time slot for it i like doing machine work but i dont live at the shop kinda like the saying a pianters house always needs painting

Only BlackSheep can talk like that :flipoff1:

I think you forgot some ..................................................................... :flipoff1:

the plating is pretty easy. I'm going to burn out a mess of plates that are made to fit and brake them so they are just held up to it and burned in. the keying otoh is done by a mill, which I don't have.
3 tons, he was saying you left out punctuation and rambled, just like I do laughing thumb.gif

Oh, I wasn't even thinking about punctuation, I thought i used an inverted prepositional phase with a conjunction. :flipper:
