Lots of fun was had before and after this year. I am not going all the way out there not to play. Also, Phoenix and Las Cruces are on the way back thumb.gif

IN!!!!

ya'll might as well come out with us this fall. My little infamous video thread on pirate had alot of smack talking from some of the west coast guys. If the group that said their going is still going then we will be putting the smack down in October loller.gif.. Hopefully with the help of Nolen and his contacts we'll be doing all the trails we can hit on the way back. Plus myself and Steve are going to eat that big steak in Texas. :drinkers: I've seen the pictures of the Hammers, I really don't see what all the hype is. :flipoff1: Hell, I bet I could do it in a stock jeep.

Is Steve gonna bring the cabtruck!?
Wrong Steve, I'm talking about my codrinker buddy Steve. He'sa rigless kinda guy. You still going to tag alone with us?

I got nothing in Oct... can I tag along ?! laughing1

If they can crawl it with a full body yota truck on 37 MTR's then it cant be that fuggin nasty. It looks like the kinda place that is only as hard as you want to make it from most the pictures I have seen. I havent been there so I " dont know Jack" laughing1

I probably wouldn't be able to get off work, but I would love to go and help out.

All I have to say is if any of you guys get in, think about Running the 39" B.F. Goodrich Baja tires. These tires are really stout and I think they would do really well in this competition. You could just groove the tread a little different and I think they would work really well. The sidewalls are really thick, and also this tire has 3 layers of belt, 1 which is Kevlar then they are wrapped twice with this other stuff thats really strong. Making these tires hard to puncture.

man, I would love to go out there and see that action hitit I know I could get off work, but I dunno about the time off with the wife....that time frame might be a little busy in our house ;)

only way I'd take off is if I were racing... since I don't have anything to race... looks like I'll be following it online at work again thumb.gif

cool event but don't put the ***** on a pedestal guys :flipoff1: and hope that campbell breaks something if you want a chance laughing1 :flipgotcha:

**** all it takes is $$ right ? :flipgotcha:

My XRRA dream/experience has shown me the light. Ill race here and there comps, and Ill hit XRRA again next year when it breeze's through Bham, but with fuel , entry , rig maint, safety req's, and everything associated with a race on a pro level. FUUUUUUUUUUUG that. I dont even scratch the surface of having the type of money needed to even show up. I woulda never made the GrayRock event if it werent for all the people that helped and chipped in and sold me parts and so on so forth. I had loaner harnesses and a borrowed Optima cause I didnt even have the $$ for that left over... I completely wiped out every penny I had for that sorry showing laughing1 between building the buggy and getting it there in time without any type of shakedown at all that was some of the stupidest money I ever spent. But it was worth it because I had set a Goal to do it last year and with all the help and fun we had along the way we meet that goal.

and jouquim sideshow or whatever his name is?

That is the absolute best misspelling of Joachim's name I have seen to date........

As for the Hammer's trails being hard, well, there is a way around all the hard stuff, that helps. I would say if you are used to wheeling in the SE it is going to be plenty hard for you. The trails are long and relentless. No breaks, just rock after rock after rock.

It is best to have a local show you around on the trails so you can hit all of the optional lines :eat:

holy **** that looks ruff. that looks totally by far and away different than the rubicon. that's where I see pics of stock yotas driving it

You will see lots more Toyota's at the Hammers than Jeeps. It is weird. Mostly cab trucks on 35-39" tires. I wheeled with Bender there in 05 and he was driving Bob Standage's old pro-mod buggy on 37's and he walked all the hard stuff. The stickies are king out there, no matter how big the rocks are. It is brutal on your rig too.

Put it this way, there were some friends of mine out there in September and they were running all full-sized rigs. They would do 1 maybe 2 trails all day. Our group of 3 buggies did 5-6 trails per day. They were hard days though.

That's how I imagine Arizona to be. Their pictures are incredible and I would *love* to wheel out there. However, it seems like half of their runs involve insane carnage with 12-36 hour extraction efforts. Sometimes it's nice to cover 20 miles in a weekend cruising through the woods going from one obstacle to another. Going 1000 yards in half a day sounds cool but maybe not something I'd want for every trip.

The hammers is not as bad as everyone makes it to be. It's hard on parts yes, but the reason a trail can be a 8 hour extraction effort is because "that guy" tried something and breaks his shitty rig or cant drive worth a ****. Happens every ****ing time. Just like Clayton, if you're in a small group with capable rigs and level headed drivers you can cover alot of ground... if one of the equation isn't met---yer ****ed! laughing1

There was a guy in some bling ass way ugly rear engine moonbuggyish 2 seater on portals and just could not make it up this small obstacle on jack hammer at the TB run.. It was an adams ant fab rig but the driver was a nOOb... he spent 30 minutes AT LEAST on this one obstacle in the middle that everyone including a samurai on 35's walked right up.... guy could not drive. in that 30-45 minutes there was at least 20 rigs backed up and ticked off... the guy shoulda backed off the obstacle and/or pulled winch line... I am confident my crappy toyota would idle up it laughing1
