I wouldn't love anything more than sitting in that drivers seat for the LCQ. I KNOW i can do it. And I KNOW i have the support do it.
Being a young driver i understand completely people have there opinions already made. If they don't want me driving thats there deal. It just gives me more fuel for the upcoming race season to make a name for myself.

It is a load of **** that Levi cannot race if that 13 year old is anywhere near a car.

Basically Dave is saying he is not comfortable having Levi out there alone running the race. He is letting his emotions of being a father get in the way of being a promoter. If he wants to be a true promoter let those that have equipment that meets the standard and have a proven race history run.

WOW! thats a cool attitude to have son. Its gonna be a good year for you. I can feel it.

BTW guys I havent talked to Levi about any of this, he was out last night with his buddys and had no idea what was going on till he read about this here. I still havent talked to him, hes at wrestling practice. I'm proud of him.

NO. 1 - THOMAS ISN'T DRIVING

they sent in their app for thomas to drive but were told no
since they sent an app they are in the LCQ but Thomas' name was still on the app so that's what probably happened there.

I know Dad is driving and they have a TEAM of people going with them but this is the first I've heard of Thomas co-dawgin so I'm not sure if they're planning on that or not

You are probably dead on rockwild. It was just an administrative error. Same reason my team name says Shake N Bake racing and I have had them change it to Hardline Crawlers a million times. Also the same reason I got a call that my number 26 was already taken yesterday, and Dave and I had the conversation 6 months ago and I said I would change to 62. Lots of miss-communication going on with the administrative stuff.

I don't really like waffling rules and because I said so kinda stuff, but it is not my race. I think some people in the LCQ never even sent in an app, but were given a spot. Not worth it to cause a stink though. Oh well.

My question is this. If Thomas is codriving and something happens during the race that prevents his dad from continuing, are they just done?

Just got off the phone with Dave Cole, HE CALLED ME! These guys are straight up good guys. They cant afford for something to go wrong with having a young driver out there. I understand that. He knows Levi is capable. Thomas IS codriving with his dad. I still dont agree with that. He is still in the race and open to the same dangers that Levi would have been exposed to. I'm not going to argue the point with him,hes got more to worry about than this stuff. Levis got his head on straight and will be harder to beat given more seat time. I'm proud of him.

So WHY have rules? You can be cordial about it, but that doesn't eliminate an unfair playing field. I wonder
if they know who's gonna win already?

I told youn's it's their race and they'll run it the way they want.I don't agree one bit with a 13 year old in any seat if the reason for not letting anyone under 18 drive is the reason.The passenger is hurt more than the drive.After all the static about AC not getting a spot after being the only one out of 6 in the XRRA finals I seen right down the barrel how this race will be run.Even though a few have been added to the KOH since they couldn't give the XRRA spot to the next person in line I've learned alot.From a safety point of view,stick with the rules you and the insurance people make.I have to say they did respond directly to Adam the day after the stink on the internet.It'll all be OK once we all get out there and start thinking about the race.Remember it's their race and they will run it the way they want and untill they run it the way we're all unhappy with it we will just keep getting ready for the next one.

I edited my post. I meant to say they "cant" afford to have something go wrong. Still dont agree with the the younster being in the passenger seat even though he is with his dad. I feel they have the same insurace exposure no matter who Thomas is with. Im not saying its a bad thing he gets to co drive, just saying its too bad Levi doesnt get a shot. Im OK with their decision on Levi, just dont understand that they are willing to take a risk with Thomas. What is good for the goose should be good for the gander. I would love to see Levi spank a 2 mile course.

A lot of insurance on these events won't cover someone in the passenger seat. That is why nobody rode in the arena events...we were not allowed to.

So, I don't see how their insurance allows a 13 year old in the passenger seat, and not a 16 year old in the driver seat. :gay:

It's a cockpit area. If something is going to happen, it is going to happen to both people in the passenger compartment. I have nothing against this kid. I think it's great that him, lil Blume, and Levi are making a splash in our sport. But, don't have a waffling rule where it's okay that an underage person can be in the passenger seat. Maybe if you all knew that, you would have gotten the Caddy ready and have Levi ride shotgun with whoever.

Well...this thing is just another race Brian. Here in a few months, the general population of us wheelers will only remember who won the big dance. I'm ready to see Levi kick some ass this year in XRRA and whoop up on us and everyone else. :dblthumb:

I know Levi and Brian have come to terms with what Jeff and Dave have said BUT I still say the whole thing is horse ****. So now Levi gets to miss out on the media stuff that you know Thomas will be getting because of his age. The Shirley's are not only in this to win race's but to help promote a young up and comer that Levi is. I really would like to say some thing on pirate but I know they will just hang me out to dry and I do NOT want anything to come back on Brian or Levi. Just my .02 worth this morning
