Lets have an opinionated arguement re. the pros of heims vs TRE's in steering systems

we're not talking about suspension links. if we were, we'd have to factor in johnny joints :clappy:

this is about steering ...

Ya no shat it was an example of strength if you want to get down to it. It dose not matter one bit if its single or double sheer a heim is MUCH safer and stronger. a TRE is a ball and socket (WEAK LINK). A heim is actualy captured by the bolt it can not pop off like a TRE. So its not just a fasion statement IT'S BETTER:flipoff:

A heim can pop off like a tre, most of the time the bolt head is smaller than the ball of the joint, you should run a washer under the head of the bolt that is bigger than the ball. I use heims in single shear and have not broken one yet, 25k miles and changed out one set of joints.

I have 16 Hiem joins on my jeep, both suspension and sterring, have had the same ones for over 4 years, no slip/slop/wear. You truly get what you pay for, buy the best and forget it. :corn:
