What's the deal with "53" block?

My new to me tow pig. 2011 6.7 cummins been deleted with few other goodies under the hood, fresh mildly built trans. Have only had it a few weeks but love it so far!

I looked it over, never found 53 on it, just 23. It only has 119k 0n it!!

Thin casting and will crack. Came in 1998-2002 vehicles

I bought an 01 that had almost 200k miles on it when I bought it. I could not find the 53 casting on it. I figured since it had that many miles and had not cracked yet that it must be ok. Well, I was wrong...after about 10k miles pulling heavy loads it cracked.

And yes the lieO meter is correct

My 6.0 gets between 17 and 18 depending on if I'm going 70 or 73. I get 18 at 73, so I tend to stick around there, basic tuner with a basic tune, exhaust will probably be next to pick up another mpg if I can. Odd how diesels work like that. 192k miles and still going strong. Lowering the rear end is next for it also, get it leveled out.

I bought it already converted. Motor fits in there real nice. Uses the Allison Trans and the DMax TC. Also uses the Dmax axles

Picked me up a new (to me) LLY tow pig Friday. Not a big fan of the stacks or the mirrors but the price was right. Probably will get a slide in truck camper to put on the flat bed at some point.
