And to kick it off with a crosspost from
Race-dezert

I'm digging the **** out of that thing. I like how its been cut, and they Safari topped it in the back.

Gotten to thinking about this style after reading about Rockwild's setup.
The other one I found, and like something like it, but definately not the pricetag is one of those "Custom Critical" type delivery trucks.

Now my needs, ha, I'm be fine with my racebox on my short little bumper pull for a while. But I'm thinking the kid starts getting older and wanting to go, the wife going. Camping is a bit more convincing to the wife when she's got a bed to sleep in.

Of course there is always the Gooseneck with a living quarters. She's been in a few horse trailers and could make do.

But for arguements sake what woudl you guys do. If you could. I mean aside from the $750k motorcoach, with matching stacker trailer.

Cheap!

However, when the time comes I just want a truck and trailer. I don't expect to wheel enough to have a truck devoted to only hauling my rig.

I have thought about this alot over the past year or so. I think it is cheaper, more convenient in the long run to hotel it. That being said, next time I come to Morris Mtn, I'll be camping, I want to take part in all the fun that happened around there while I was laid up in the comfort of the Holiday Inn express. I'll probably end up with an enclosed gooseneck with living quarters up front.

Here you go.
And Trailer to go with it.

I searched for years before I found mine

www.trucksforsale.com specializes in expidite trucks and there's some websites out there that have used one
most are geared too low for highway drivin and the OTR ones are rarer.

what I found is that the best time to buy something like mine is after 5-7 yrs. The truckers get contracts with companies like fedex etc and it depends on their truck as much as it does their own record. Most larger companies won't do a contract with a truck older than 5 yrs so at that time the trucks take a HUGE drop in price because they just aren't useful to the truckers that buy them.

Typically after 5-7yrs of use they have 500k on them and will go for 13-20k depending on the gearing, engine, sleeper.

I almost bought this one --- http://www.trucksforsale.com/truck/3040/truck-for-sale
supposed to be a decent engine and not geared horribly but still not ideal. been for sale for at least 2yrs - started at 12k

these two are nice but you'd be wishin for a different rear end (4.63! OUCH)

Let me know if you got any questions on my setup - I'm diggin it so far. gotta get some ramp rollers installed though. Plus I got it stuck this weekend at the Frost Bite run. 2 rigs loaded in the back and got pulled out by a dodge hooked to a trailer with an XJ loaded on it.

I think I will never be OK with dumping that kind of cash into hauling a rig around. If I had the money I would put it in the rig. ;D
KOH has really got me fired up on competing and an enclosed trailer with sleeping space would be nice, but I don't see it happening for me. I am just gonna try and get my GN setup to have lights and tools to fix my junk as it needs it for now. Maybe put a sleeper on the front of it one day or do something with the the megaab my truck as a sleeper.

Guy had a rig up here for sale that I thought was a pretty good combo idea. Wasn't big enough for a rig but the idea was good. He had removed the undercarriage from a popup camper and mounted the thing to the front of his trailer. Looked to have enough room for a Rhino etc.... Same thing could be done with a bigger "rig" trailer. These things are only done in Alabama! thumb.gif

$8900, **** thats like a dreamright there. My old man is wanting to field a Landspeed car in the next year, been talking about it for years. but the Salt out at Bonneville eats everything. most guys Haulers are disposable units because of that.
You'll see the $1m haulers roll into Wendover and park, and then their 1982 just bought tow suburban with near junk trailer shows up to ferry everything out onto the Salt to race.

I like that for $8900.

Now on the rearends. Whats it take to change one of those? Find a different rearend? or a ring gear change? Or and O/D?

It seems like *something* on my trail rig always leaks a little bit. As soon as I fix one another pops up. Also, I want my setup to have at least some limited off road prowess. It would suck to get stuck on wet grass or to be unable to recover something just an uphill gravel road away. On the other hand, I find setting up camp and storing my stuff to be a real pita.

So this thing with a regular trailer would make me really happy.

If you swapped out the dog-**** engine, maybe. I drove a H1 Alpha my buddy has with the Duramax and it was still a pig.

Check out Ken Blume's Box Truck build on Pirate in the Tow section. Badass.

Ive been looking at getting a setup like this for the past year and a half. My ideal setup would be a Toter home with a 14-16 foot box and 325+ horse power. You could easily pull over 30,000#s, that means atleast four rigs on a trailer fuel split four ways and a trip out west is very affordable. IT would be more for the wife and kids to tag along, I could put my rig and my wifes car on the trailer that way she would still be able to get around while I was out on the trail. Plus a toter home drives and pulls better than an RV. The box trucks are great , but their hard to find with air ride and more than 275 HP. An RV just doesn't have the towing capacity, plus it's about the same cost. If you use you personal truck all your doing is wearing it out , plus you still have to find somewhere to stay, and at 15,000#s your pushing the max tow rating. I have the go sign from the wife to buy one , but not till she gets her car of choice and we get alittle more debt taken care of.
In a nut shell suck up the 100-150 gs and get a used toter.

Hell Yeah, thats what im talking about.

-got a '08 cargo south 28 foot with a 4 foot v-nose enclosed hauler, front 14 feet is insulated and hardwood floors, with bean bag, couch, tv, radio, microwave.....back 14 feet is set up to haul the rig in also for using to pit out of at the r/c tracks, ive got a wall thats going in to separate the 2 ends with a door, roof vent is braced and wired for ac unit, when i had it built i had them to put the d-rings to the back of trailer so it wouldnt interfere with my wall, beavertail, 16 foot rv awning...ordered it from metro trailer and drove to ocilla, ga to the factory and picked it up.........pulled by f-250 4 door 2wd diesal with out sway bars, dont need them, pulls fine the way it is

It's hard to pick just one. There are a few excellent tow rig in this list. ;D

hell yeah, can't wait for wyatt to buy one so I can roll in it. Makes no sense for me to buy one.....with my DUI's I can have a CDL for like 10 years
You don''t need a CDL to drive one. Their classified as an RV. A buddy of mine converted a Semi into a hauler for his pulling truck, he's pushing 55+feet trailer and rig and he has no CDL and is legal.

The Wothahellizat is killer.

Dad, and I went and looked at a Toter with a 38' stacker. Its one of his buddies. Its about 2 years old, and has 1 trip to Bonneville on it. They coated the bottom with Diesel fuel, and then after the salt parked it with a handful of lawn sprinklers under it. Now its 6 months after that trip, and there is a ton of noticable salt damage. So he's trying to move it before the damage becomes TOO much. I couldn't believe the damage. **** was just all ate up.
