According to the inspector I need a CDL to drive this but after registering it as an RV I asked to take the driving test for a Class B license and they said I'd have to have a truck to test in and mine wouldn't count since it's and RV. I tried

Thats a helluva Catch22. Laws :dunno:

They coated the bottom with Diesel fuel, and then after the salt parked it with a handful of lawn sprinklers under it. Now its 6 months after that trip, and there is a ton of noticable salt damage.
I didn't realize the salt flats did that much damage to vehicals. Never really thought of it.

Thats cool as **** Travis.... my dad works for a truck rebuild shop and they get those style rigs in there all the time on the CHEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP as ****. Im talkin down around 3500-5k

Really? I'm looking at each one of these and thinking about how they would do for mild recoveries. I'm not sure that rig could drive the dirt road at Gray Rock. I'd take the hummer ambulance instead. ;D

Come AWN!!! 12" lift bags. But what would you being recovery with an 18wheeler anyway. I'd rather come-along my crap out of BFE that try to get and 18 wheeler in just about anywhere. And say you are running a 36+ enclosed, you wont be doing any recovery with that rig either. Rig recovery would never be a consideration for me in buying a tow setup.

That's interesting, for me it's a nice benefit. I think 2 ouf my last 5 trips ended with me taking the trailer over a hill on a rough road to get the buggy. Another one of those trips was up to PA and it involved a camping area that was completely covered in snow/ice. I'm not sure what I'd do with something that can't handle a little rough use.

On the other hand, I can see that setup is totally pimp, it's just not for me.

I've talked with these guys in the past about converting a day cab into a toter. This is one of there conversions. I think they priced me out on a full conversion not including the frame streching at about $3,500-$4,000 a foot. That does not include the tractor either.

That is good looking.
So high side, a 16' sretch would run $64k. dang! But damn it looks good. I'm sure if I was rolling Nolen money, I'd have one.

Brian just got a new 48 ft. enclosed to haul their three comp. rigs in, he will have it here at the first MOROC race
BS's 48' Red Rocket it full on sick. As well as what it looks like on the inside fully loaded with 3 comp rigs in it.

As for every job paying more, maybe.....LOL Naw this is kinda a reality bridges dream hypothetical thread.

I run an ubber lightwieght Featherlite bumperpull with a Racerbox on the front. Makes traveling fast doable. I dont see that changing anytime soon. I do think man, I need a crewcab dually and a HugeXhuge gooseneck with a Living quarters if I want the fam to start going after this season. Then Why stop there, I'll get a Custom Critical truck to rock out in. Wait, what about a Toter and stacker trailer..... Wait what about an 18 wheeler that is full on Nascar style? But yet, I pull an ubber lieghtweight bumperpull.

While your on this subject i just so happen to have a 32 ft enclosed gooseneck trailer for sale. 102 inches wide and 8' 6'' tall which will easily haul a one ton rig on 44's. Come and get it.

Bring on some pics! Oh wait, is yours that Grey one with the extra tall box?

I'll add to Rockwild's post a little. Having been in truck sales for a few years, I learned what to look for and what to look out for. The other thing I learned was to ask around. There are some oldtimers that know a lot more than me. Going back a few posts, the DT444 is the same engine as the Ford Powerstroke. It is a city engine at best. We always hated getting them in trade. They weren't worth much to the next guy.

The DT466 is a good engine. been around for a long long time. Travis looked at getting a big trailer to haul around, the only thing was it would involve a bigger truck if we wanted to haul more than two rigs. That and if you wanted living quarters, you were having to sacrifice rig space. The price on them is crazy also.

When we looked at trucks, there were specs all over the board. Many weren't spec'd for hiway driving. I found a lot of info on www.expeditersonline.com . They have a classified section that had a lot of trucks also. Those guys make a living driving these trucks all over the country.

I think the greatest thing about the big truck is that we can travel in comfort. This last weekend, we traveled with four people and two big dogs. There was plenty of room for everyone and my wife even slept most of the way in the upper bunk. Being able to haul two rigs without a trailer is great. Then if we want, we can put a trailer on the back and haul at least one more. The gearing is a little high, but with some tuning, things will work better.

The biggest addition I want to do is make a movable wall in the box so that I can heat or cool a smaller section. That was the biggest problem this weekend. A space heater doesn't heat a 22' uninsulated box very well.

InDaShop, yea that's mine, had it on Pirate for sale and got asked a hundred questions about it but no buyer. Will make someone a deal on it cause i'm gettin ready to build a new house.
