Little damage

you name it and it's broken - MULTIPLE TIMES

Arp this, upgraded that, chromo this, cryo'd that

I get the same lame ass story from Bobby everytime I break something and call for a warranty. He wants to hear how it happened and then give me a sob story on how he's a small shop and I'm too hard on stuff, there's guys with 44's and v8's in colorado not breaking them. I really don't give a **** - send me my part. I've just had to go thru it soo many times and then to hear him say only 5 have broke in the history of him selling them - BS I've seen over 15 break IN PERSON and a buddy has broke 30+.

Now Bobby's stuff is fanfuckingtastic and it's the best **** out there, hands down. No way in hell we could do the **** we do without it. But a lifetime warranty is a lifetime warranty man up and send the **** out or get rid of the warranty on your page.

Don't get me started on ARP crap - I've spent hundreds of $$ on simple ****ing bolts and they break just like anything else

Cryo'd and heat treated gears my ass - the shits just too damn small to be worth a damn

I carry enough spares to build a whole front and rear end, sometimes I even got the piece of **** tin can housings with me just in case!

Sorry fo the rant! just need to vent a little I've been trying to keep a tight lip for years but enough is enough

Funny, that was my story too.

4 banger, 2500# buggy on sticky 40's and I went through every upgrade Marlin and Bobby had for the Tcases and I still broke that ****.

Jeep and Toyota **** have their place.....I just prefer it not to be on a trail near me ;)

at this point if I wanted to be competitive in stock mod I may have to!

:flipoff1: screw that i don't care if I'm competitive this little bastard of a truck has been a blast

I want to write in and tell everybody how toyota axles are working just fine for me, but it wouldn't be true. The FJ80 rear ring gear and e-locker seems to hold up pretty well but the inner axles got a twist and had to be upgraded. We'll see how they hold up.

Up front (FJ80), the ARP studs on the wheel hub seem to be doing the job. The longfields are amazing. I've broken lots of stuff in that axle but every time I pull the axles they look perfect. Now I'm hoping the hi-pinion R&P holds up better than the low pinion R&Ps that I've had in there. If this doesn't work I'll probably stop throwing good money after bad.

2 HP front ring and pinions - last set was cryod
eventually event the ARP studs stretch and break

When you check your longs do you clean all the grease out and check the star for cracks?
I've never "exploded" one, just cracked the stars. They still work but they start binding up and making it real hard to steer and eventually they will not power the wheel cause the star expands. You've gotta be careful here cause bobby will expect you to stop and pull it before stripping the splines on the inner.

I looked at the star (is that what it's called?) briefly but I'm pulling them this weekend so I'll look more carefully. I was always under the impression that the splines would be the first thing to go. I wouldn't be surprised if I was right in the case of the FJ80. The birfield is a lot larger on those.

As for the hi-pinion ring gears, that's not what I wanted to hear. That's what I'm dropping in this weekend. ::)

(BTW, I don't believe in cryo treating ring gears at all. I did it and it didn't work. I talked to a PhD candidate in metallurgy and he explained why.)

I bet your good with the Fj80 birfs then
but I've seen a few D60 birfs that have broke too - everything can break

Some of my breaks of R&P could be from poor setup but the times I did pay for professional setup of my gears (twice) they only lasted a trip so...
