• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

Local type comps

I will be glad to help put together something like this, but it will be a group effort. I talked to Jimmy at EOR and he is interested also.

We need folks to commit to being on board with it and decide who those folks are so we can move forward. The Series needs a voice! I'm in as needed. Once a year per park is a great idea Matt. And you are correct about running it to often and loosing rigs due to breakage and people interest.

OK.................now I am got damn CONFUSED.....??

GRASS ROOTS ,,SIMPLE,,NO STRESS,,FUN ,,ROCK COMPS....................WHERE DID IT GO WRONG ??

I think the board is the park owners that want to be a part of it. We will need more racers, volunteers and sponsors to get it off the ground.

My idea is to get the local shops involved to show off their products and put on a show for the fans. I also think it can be a mix of short course rock racing and more of a rock rally format like MMORV is putting together. That way you mix up the action which is good for the crowd and the racers!

Keep going! I am with ya and I think the hook is set for 90% of the other guys. So how do you think we put it togehter from here. I will be on the board.

I think it is pretty simple, Droop and Todd have setup the first race with Rocky at Golden Mtn. Their idea of a grass roots comp is where this series idea came about, so it should be a good trial. Rocky has a old dirt track, lights and all that. We have talked and if people are interested in the first one we can start planning out a series in 2010 which is where all the park owners and volunteers come in. For now plan on making the Golden Mtn event and promote the hell out of it. They still need to set a date, but Oct sometime. We can put some ideas to the test there and see what people like

Sounds good to me. I talked to Rocky a couple days ago, and he was game for the curcuit idea.

Circuit idea from park to park would be kickass , rules need to be defined and all that and it would have to be completely the same at each park to make it work to its fullest as a series or circuit. :dblthumb:

Same thing I said to Matt O. in a pm. One of the biggest things is getting atleast a couple people to be at every event. That way it is the same couple people making the call at all the events.

I think it would be kinda cool having all the different places run different kinda events. Rock race at GMP Hill climb at ??? Rally at MM. Keeps everyone equal. Moon buggies might not do so well at the hill climb but will kick ass at the Rock race.

Lets get it laid down at GMP then go from there.

I talked to Tony C today. He said John G had mentioned it to him and he is game to include G Rock

The type of obstacles that i remembered wathcing races on were at grayrock...

I believe like the fastest up snot rock, rock holla, and bents and dents.... those type of short rock bounces are kinda what i had in mind...

Take away sharp turns , long courses and such...

I honestly don know what everybody likes... But i remembered that everybody there had a good time...

i like the short course idea
at gray rock the hill needs to be CABLE HILL or bump and grind maybe

Yeah. Short fast and rough. But every park can do what they want to do. It'll all be fun!

IMHO, short cousres would make it more spectator friendly... Like at Grock( bents and dents from the bottom) or the original course at King of the hill.... keep it simple... screw turns, downhills, ect...

Take a trail that at crawl speed is kinda boring, then do it at race speeds...

Each park needs to have sort of a similar course. If you do just hill climbs or just Rallyes, I think some of those who know their rigs are not going to work well might not show up. Let everyone offer the smae style, but different arrangment to keep it interesting.

All that would be well and good at other parks, but GMP has the set up to do a rock race. Enough seats and parking for 2500 people and the ability to do it under the lights. Dont have to tote lawn chairs all over the park. Pick a spot in the bleachers and sit and watch. Consession stand right behind you. Love the idea of a series at all the parks but I think at GMP it will be a rock race set up on a course with a few turns and jumps and the such.

Rock race is more spectator friendly and that is the best format IMO. Would be cool to throw a high speed rally in there though.

This is what I am talking about.
