We've got both Miller and Lincoln here at school, and i would have to say miller... We've got a miller 210, syncrowave 250 and their smaller tig and their all awesome! The lincoln is always broken and we spend more time fixing it than using it...

Has anybody here actually, you know, USED a comparable Miller and Lincoln welder? In the course of running a sweat ass bead on some steal, is there any difference?

I mean, I thought my MM175 was pretty nice on material it's capable of handling, and I think my MM251 is also pretty nice, and capable of handling thicker material than I generally use, so sure, by a Miller. But how do they compare to a Lincoln?

*crickets*

I use both RED and BLUE...on a semi regular basis...I like both....

BUT.....

I like BLUE BETTER...Dunno why just do..:stirpot: :masturbanana[1]:

I do a little welding from time to time and I don't think you could go wrong with any of the above mentioned machines purchased new.

i use both on a daily basis when im at school, and our lincolns are much more bitchen then the millers

Don't get me started on the SCHUMACHER MIG TURBO 180!!

It's the goods!!

I've heard a thing or two about a miller cricket? I've welded with a schumaker 110 unit, what a peach, it's just like harbor freight stuff with the constantly hot wire.

i would not reccomend hobart. i have used miller 135's, 175's, 210's, 251's and i have used lincoln power mig 180's and lincoln powermig 255's. they are all awesome welders. i would reccomend going with the miller, but the lincoln powermig is also a great machine, although i think that their consumables are a bit more expensive... correct me if i am wrong. you're making a good choice either way.

unless you are a professional and have used both machines on a daily basis, IMO most will not be able to tell the difference between comprably rated machines with all other variables the same (gun angle, stickout, flowrate, etc)

Lincoln makes great rigs, as does miller, i think its more of a color preference than anything :flipoff: i own a blue one. but wouldnt turn down a red one. :redneck:

I had a Miller 130xp that I loved but I sold to a buddy a few years ago since I wasn't using it. This last summer I bought a Lincoln 180C with the tack timer and the aluminum MIG gun and I have found a new love. It does everything the old blue did and more and mith more precision with the constant current control. Better arc starts and easier to use.

it was about three or four years ago i was looking .........but some smaller lincolns had aluminium contacts vice copper or brass so i avoided them. the guy at the welder repair facility at todd shipyard alerted me to avoid this feature as they are impossible to maintain.

i went with hobart as it fit the budget. on sale.

I'd vote Miller, I've got a millermatic 210, works flawlessly for me. I've used lincolns before and they are equally as nice, it comes down to who's name and color you like more. :awesomework: make sure you get 220v:D

I'd go with a Miller... My buddy has the Millermatic 251 its sweet! ...but if you had ESAB for an option it'd be the Migmaster 250, I and 2 other friends LOVE EM!
