So closed gate no longer ='s closed area? :wtf:crash said:Before you speak I suggest you get the facts--- Rangers have no problem doing so when there is snow on the ground---Typically you cannot see the gates/you go over them..

The snow was AWESOME! We're going again next Saturday if you want to join up. None of us towed.

That's cool and all, but it's news to me and I won't believe it til I see it in official writing. :flipoff:crash said:"SNOW" "SNOW" "SNOW"
Awesome! :corn: :haha: :cheer: :clappy:Freeride said:And no, that wasn't the hardest obstacle I found. There was this salmon spawning stream that I was ripping up way off the trail in the middle of a meadow. I had to cut down a bunch of trees with bald eagle and spotted owl nests in them so that I could use the logs to build a ramp up the side of some beaver dam. :flipoff:

And IMO it's still a bad idea for ANYONE to post pictures and brag about going around closed gates. In the eyes of wheelers who don't know better it makes it look like it's OK to do this year round. In the eyes of non-wheelers it makes it look like we don't care about the rules. This hurts our image and makes us lose trails, you guys know that. I mean WTF, so you came up to a close gate and had to go around. Who cares? Was this the hardest obstacle you found? What is so special about this that you feel you need to brag about it? Do you think it makes you cool? :looser:
Yes Freeride, I was calling you out even if you didn't see it that way. 10 miles and 3' of snow doesn't make it ok. Explicit permission from the land owners, or official notice that the trail/road is open does. If a gate is closed that means the road is closed, I have NEVER heard otherwise. Some ranger telling you it's ok is not gospel, those guys have their heads sooo far up..... you get the picture. Just look at Evan's and the BS rumors being passed around lately, or the crap that goes on in the summertime in the Naches ranger district. I'm not getting pissy over your "ZERO negative impact on the environment", but what about the next guy who follows your tracks and carelessly tears **** up? Been there seen that happen, and it's frustrating as all hell. If you don't see my point then I don't know what else to say.
Wow... Crashy... Apples and oranges... :flipoff:crash said:So I guess all the sled guys are breaking the law 24-7 up there

First off, are you talking snow park or random FS road?crash said:So the sled guys don't go past the gates?

Yes there is, Rd 70 and 7030 come to mind. Also, snow parks are established areas with mapped and signed trails. You know all those little orange diamonds with arrows you see way up on trees? Snow park trail markers. You also have to have a permit to park within a snow park area.crash said:The only difference in a snow park is they groom the main trails..... There are no snow parks on this side of the mountains..

see edits above. I have as of the redeye, the signs are easy to miss.crash said:Forgot about 70 but I have not seen any signs up there in a # of years...

Around where 7030 starts IIRC.crash said:Where the hell are they? There used to be a large white sign way down on the pavement before the road wahsed out/was re-routed (when the reroute was all gravel)..
