Nope, but "gultch" does describe the terrain. I suggest "Blood Gultch" as the name of the new ubersecret lair.

P.S. Mudpigg: Just ask, we'll show yah!

P.P.S. Sam: Dude, come ride with me, I'll show you a few fun things at Jap. Gultch!

Yep pulled that off his myspace, he stumbled across those doubles a couple months ago at the gultch:awesomework:

Hes game to ride whenever he gets the chance, works tuesday-saterday though till like 7:looser:

Those jumps could use a little tuning up but I'm sure they run fine now:D They should drop off the ridge with a gnarly stepdown then get big:011: :011:

Nah, I think your talking about the old flow line that's all broke up except for the bottom drop. There also is a nice huge stepup up top on the same side. I think these jumps are something newer... oh yah, they are.

Now I remember. These are off to the left when heading west on the upper ridge access trail. There is an easy baby line on the left, bigger stuff to the right. Been a while I guess.

Oh, my bad. I misread you. There use to be, and still is sorta, a flow line that drops off the ridge. At the bottom, there is a 5-20 foot drop if you use the lowest takeoff. You just better not mess up or your looking at 40 mph into the trees.

There use to be a burly drop off a big stump to the skiers right.

So all you got left is an XC bike? Where the hell is your priorities man? Stop being so practical!

I am eager to hear more of said "blood gulch" :eeek: :corn:

How is the lighting situation for thursday? It's getting dark so quick anymore....I hate daylight savings... :booo: :booo: :booo:

I am gonna bring the hardtail for a day of stiff fun! :awesomework:

Which is to say that #1. you have never donned a Mjolnir suit before. (which is a compliment to say the least you non-geek you!)

#2. I get scerred when you vollantarily bring a stiffy for a night of ass penetration.

Well, your going to have to penetrate yourself, by yourself on Thursday. Ok Ok, so Canada will be there to help out.

Seriously, you guys meet up and ride. I will sendyall an email tomorrow.

Took a little turn around Japanese Gultch last night.....snuck it in right before dark....super mucky in some places, still nice and flowing in plenty of others.
Enough for an endorphin-rush, anyways..... :D :cheer:

Which side of the ravine did you check out?

I've poked around the left side a bit with the Mister.....for all the years I've lived and rode around here, I only started riding out there this summer! :looser:
I usually take my little Kona hardtail, so I stick to the friendly stuff. I'd like to check out the right side of the ravine, at some point, but it's not likely to happen now that it's wet! :awesomework: :eeek:

When you say left, you mean the South side I believe. Is this correct?

If so, you really need to try the North side, it is much drier (perhaps, thanks to the Sun and / or better drainage). The trails are not anywhere near as muddy and there is one rippin fun trail that leads down the ridgeline. It has berms, open grasslands, tight forest and some pretty steep uphill sections (steep for someone on a 50lbs bike anyways).

Here are some pics of the North-sided trail, name unknown:

Cool pics, those weren't taken recently, were they!

Let's see if I can tell my north from my south...... I use the railroad track as my main landmark. I park down at the bottom of the hill in that little dirt parking area, then ride up with the tracks on my left. I cross the tracks after about 15-20 minutes going up, then go across the board over the gully.... that's the "Left" side of the tracks, to me....is that North? Seems like it would be.
Plus, that little drop gave away the location, I don't hit that on my Kona! :awesomework:

Is that your bike in the last pic??
