I got frustrated with the time and money involved in this buggy/toyota frame thing I was buildin, so I picked up an 89 Toyota pickup from a friend of mine. This rig is being built with parts off of my old rig and money from sellin parts from the buggy project I got in over my head on... It's been 1.5 years since my old toyota pickup caught fire and sent me into a downward spiral that ended up in a failed attempt at building a buggy.... This came up and I NEED something to get back out wheelin... Can't afford bling right now so I'll work with what I've got. This will actually be a pretty well setup Toyota for what I want to do with it...

I'll start with some pics cause I'm tired as shiat and 6AM comes fast (it's almost 1)... Specs to come later, but this truck is going to be competing in the MOROC Super Modified class. Eventually it will be backhalfed, but for now stickin' with leafs till I have more time on my hands...

Pics are shitty from my blackberry.. sorry.

It started out much uglier, the whole front end was smashed in, I scavenged a new front clip and rear window off of a friend's parts truck for $100

Still have more torch action to do as well as a million hours behind the grinder, but tonight was good progress... Had to waste a couple beers puttin' out fires from the victor wrench...

issss truuuuu, isss truuuuuu, I wuv hacking black **** out of my throat and blowing black as coal snot out my nose for days after a good grind session.

Get on it Rob, March 8 is damn near here.

Re: MOROC Toyota build...

yeaaaa I'm out black snot rockets...

I've still got some hours to put in behind the grinder... There's ALOT of work left.... This means LATE LATE nights...

18 days till frostbite... a weekend in between that and the first MOROC event. Kelly, you down for some testing if the weaather is decent??

doesnt look like much, but we got everything else outta there(oops gotta unbolt swaybar) and I grinded off the slag... Man it is a world of difference using earplugs loller.gif wish I woulda thought of that a long time ago, I don't mind grinding as much if I don't have to hear it!!

Also, since this truck had a front-end collision the rad + condensor will be replaced from a donor truck that I've been robbin, and we're just gonna tube and tab off of the frame for hangin' all of that since we cut out the core support but left the headlight buckets... thumb.gif

Re: MOROC Toyota build...

Nice work. Full ear protection works even better and keeps your ears pretty clean. God I hate grinding.

Re: MOROC Toyota build...

Tonight I pulled the transfer case, yanked out the carpet that Sprocket (the shop cat) pissed on... Cut a nice lil hole for my doubler shifters to stick through. My W56 is a top-shift model and Matt is tig-in' up a blockoff plate for the tcase shifter that won't be there anymore. You won't see it, but it'll look tits either way pepper.gif

Here's the hole...

Sooo then I get my doubler all ready to mount right...

I'm not a happy camper. :'(

Good thing I found it out tonight and not right before the Frostbite run... FAWK. I'm just wondering what they are gonna do about it---since I already mounted my **** to it and drug it across the shop floor it's all scraped up--I didnt care because I figure it'll get bashed on rocks anyhow. There really was no way to check if it was right without having the tcases mounted up nor is there a part # anywhere or even a pack slip soooo in good faith I mounted them up. Dammit.

Oh well, it won't be driving this weekend but we'll try to get it on all 4's at least. I still have to go pull a radiator and condenser + figure out all that mounting... This was just a shitty way to end a night where I was making good progress.

NOW build one. matt is a fab guy, right?

to make it removeable I'd have to rig it. I got alot of other fab **** to do this weekend we can get front and rear axles in place as well as seats mounted and new tubed out radiator mount... This isn't gonna hold us up any, just was a bummer I couldn't get it installed last night. I'll have the new one ~wed-ish ready to test at ur place next weekend fool!

Re: MOROC Toyota build...

Chop it and weld it up to work. It'll save you time and shipping hassles. Just a minor hiccup, keep at it kid! thumb.gif
