My Ford! My Ford! My Ford! part 2

I wanted to add a trans temp gauge, but didn't want to hack a hole in the NOS dash bezel I just got. I don't like pillar gauge pods, so that left me with a column pod. Seems most use one for a super duty in the OBS, which blocks out a portion of the tach and speedo, and can interfere with the shifter. I found that the 97-03 f-150 has the pod on the opposite side, so I bought one to try. It only blocks out a portion of the fuel gauge. I can live with that.

And... Now I know why no one seemed to use this gauge pod... It interferes with the instrument cluster bezel when you try to tilt the wheel up..

I hate the A-pillar pods, had one in my OBS and it was really annoying at night. When I got the 550 I ended up getting a pod that mounts down on the bottom of the dash, it has worked really well. Not sure if they make the for the OBS trucks though.

Put an MSD igntion box on it. It smoothed out the idle and seems to have more off idle torque now. Just refilled the tank, so we'll see if the MPG comes up any.

Averaging 10 mpg. Better than the old rig. It has nice off idle grunt. Looking forward to getting the headers and catback on.

Whose headers are you going with? That's one of the 2 last pieces for my '90 for the time being. I'm gonna figure out a way to run one of them big ass filters the Powerstruggle boys use on the intake side.

I did a buddies trucks up years ago. His was a twin to this one.

Those 460 trucks eat manifolds and the outer two bolts.

I called up Thorley and had them build a pair of tri-Y headers that had all the OEM fit but I had them leave off ALL the air pump/smog fittings. Then we removed the smog pump and put a shorter belt on.

Didnt cost any extra, just had to wait a little bit for the custom order.

Quality was excellent.

I bought Thorleys. If I had ordered them for a '96 or '97, I could have gotten them without the smog pump stuff. Oh well... When I bought them, I didn't plan on deleting that or the kitty like I am now.

And I got a flowmaster cat back for it. Not that I like showmaster mufflers, but I like their 3" mandrel system. If it sucks too much, I swap the muffler for a big dynomax turbo.

I got a set of those headers with remflex gaskets for the 6.8 in the motorhome along with a programmer from 5star. Made a huge diffrence

I just deleted my smog pump the other day, somehow the pulley got bent even as tucked up as it is, was making the belt chirp/squeal A 6PK1195 belt goes right on and puts the alternator about in the middle of the adjustment with no air pump. All the info I found on the web was calling out belts longer than that for some reason.

Did this today. Belt fit perfect. Thanks. :awesomework:

Replaced the seat foam today.

Exhaust! I put the 3" flowmaster "cat back" in today. They include pipe for an extended and crew cab, so I had the kitty run away. Used a Dynomax super turbo muffler since I'm not a fan of the flowmaster sound.
