Naches TWIG meeting

Yeah you missed some action, the Evans meeting had a lot of "Shut the **** up" and "Stop running your big ****ing mouth". About half of these came from a FS LEO (you all know his name). It was pretty good for about 5 minutes.

I will print all of this out, get it filled out, scan it and email it back to her. I can also send you copies Jim.

Really :booo: Man we have had some heated up meetings in the past but never any that sounded this bad :booo: So who was getting yelled at and why ?

PS. do you EVER answer your phone :eeek: I had to work for two friggen hours trying to convert those forms so they could be posted:mad:

Some snow plow guy and Ian were yelling back and forth really good about being able to plow the pit up on 70.

I suck at answering my phone. If I am doing ANYTHING it just gets to ring because I rarely stop what I am doing to answer it. My son and I were playing either dominoes or uno when you called. I saw the missed call a few minutes ago.

I hate phones and I hate answering them so it is really easy for me to just not hear it. Sorry. I do get yelled at by my mom and my boss about it though.

That was probably Ron Lind :haha: hes got a bit of a temper issue :haha:

I have downloaded the forms. Thank you very much for them Jim.

I will be distributing them to the few people I know who don't come onto this board or the internet in general.

Would it be ok to cross post this information into the General Chit-chat page...for there are folks there that need to fill them out as well.

Put them anywhere we can to get them posted. Please send me copies though as we need to keep our documentation. I hate to say it but the FS does have a "problem" with loosing such things. Has happened too many times in the past:booo:

I saw this quote on another board...

I'm just glad they got that fence up around Long Meadow before they had to tighten their belts. That thing really saved the forest. Without it, it would have died.
As has been previously said, "it seems like they are spending more and more money to close areas, and less on keeping them open."

Last summer, the FS built a new fence around Long Meadow...it was basically a patch of grass with dispersed camping in the surrounding trees. I wanted to know why money was spent on a fence when Milk Lake Road was still closed due to the washout.

I called the Naches Ranger District Office on WED 01/11 & asked where the funding for the Long Meadow fence came from. I ended up leaving a voicemail for the FS Fish Guy (Gary). He called me back first thing the next morning and explained that the project was part of a riparian restoration project in the Little Naches drainage. The funding came from a grant that was awarded by the US Fish & Wildlife Service...so the money had to be spent on improving fish habitat. The money was not eligible to be spent on fixing roads, trails, etc. No Yakama Nation money was used. The labor was performed by a WCC crew. Gary also suggested that I speak to Jacquie Beidl, she was the resource manager that partnered with him on the project. After I finished my conversation with Gary, I immediately left a message for Jacquie...she called me back a couple of hours later. I explained my conversation with Gary & she confirmed all the details. I strongly encouraged her to do a little more PR with the public on future projects, because we don't know the details of where money can & cannot be spent...all we see is a fancy new fence while several roads are in need of repair. Some explanation would have gone a long way to preventing a pissed off user group.

Our conversation covered several more topics on motorized recreation in the Naches District and she ended up sending me a link to the Travel Management Planning Process for the Okanogan-Wenatchee NF. She said there are some cool things coming down the pipeline regarding possibly designating some sections of road as mixed use. This would potentially solve some of the access issues for motorcycles, atvs & non-street legal 4x4's between the campgrounds and trails. The process is nearing completion & the final recommendations will be posted soon. She strongly recommended that we keep an eye on the Travel Management Planning Process link above and provide comment when the proposals are rolled out.

She also confirmed that trails will need to be brought up to standard, but it will be a long term project and the trails do not need to be closed while they are brought up to standard. She said the trails will probably never be 100% up to standard, but they need to show progress is being made.

If you have additional questions or want to verify this information for yourself

iv got a question. sorrey if this is off topic. they keep talking about the trails needing to be kept to standerd. what does that mean? smoothed out and paved?

Pretty dang close. certanly not what they are now. If we were to bring our trails to their "standard" I dont think it could be done. I have the paperwork describing the "standards" I will try and scan it and post it later but it will make your head hurt trying to figure it all out :booo:

Didn't the DNR model the trail standards for Reiter after what the FS uses?

This is basicly what Jeff is using as his guideline when talking about "stanards"

Well hell, I found the problem with all of this. Could making and maintaining a path through the damn dirt get any more complicated? No wonder this **** costs them (read us) so damn much.

The worst part is the spot light is on it now and it is on future agendas. Means we stand to do nothing but lose ground most likely. And I had to convince my wife that retiring in Washington was a good idea so I could wheel all the time.....:booo:

Were still there and we have it better than most states but it takes a effort and diligence to make sure it stays that way.

I know, but it is almost depressing to think of all the bullshit we are going to have to wade through to just be able to keep what is there now. But we will succeed, I am motivated, I am motivated, I am motivated.
