Ha. Unscrew the end of the shock and slide on. Pretty damn easy, but if you try to do it with the bottom end still on then yeah, that would blow
 
So how does it ride now? I had the same trouble with my gas shocks until I added pressure. Now it rides and lands pretty soft.

It is sooooooo much better than when I started. I felt it bottom out a couple of times as Chocco last weekend, so I wanted to stiffen the rear a little more. I also increased the ride height a little on the front to just be off the bump stops. We will see this weekend.
 
do you have rear air bumps... if so play w/ the pressures in those if it is bottoming out...
